Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh, Director of the Center for Distance Education.

Given Duong Ngoc Anh’s health condition and the substantial treatment costs, which far exceed the family’s ability to pay, leaders of the University, faculty and staff, and students have visited regularly to offer encouragement, demonstrating NEU’s care and timely support for students during difficult times.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council, and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President, visit and encourage student Ngoc Anh in the hospital room.

Expressing sympathy for the difficulties Ngoc Anh and the family are facing, Assoc. Along with heartfelt words of encouragement, the delegation presented a gift of support to Duong Ngoc Anh’s family, hoping to provide some material and emotional support throughout the student’s treatment. This is also part of the University’s student support activities, which aim to create a learning environment that focuses not only on academic study but also on students’ health and emotional well-being.

Earlier, in early April 2025, immediately after learning that Anh had a life-threatening illness, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, and an NEU delegation visited Duong Ngoc Anh to offer encouragement and present gifts of support that conveyed the care of NEU faculty and staff. Throughout Anh’s hospital treatment, many of the University’s faculty and staff members and students have visited regularly and offered encouragement, hoping Anh will overcome the serious illness and return to studying and spending time with friends and loved ones.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu and representatives of the leadership of University units visit and present gifts of support to Duong Ngoc Anh’s family on an earlier occasion.

Duong Ngoc Anh, a student in the Cohort 66 Information Systems class of the Faculty of Management Information Systems, is just 19 years old and is currently receiving intensive treatment at Bach Mai Hospital for a blood clotting disorder that has led to skin necrosis and multiple organ failure, requiring dialysis, skin grafts and long-term treatment.

The gift sent to Ngoc Anh and the family conveys the heartfelt care and compassion of the University’s faculty and staff, students and alumni, reflecting the spirit of mutual support and solidarity within the NEU community. These actions not only provide material support but also encourage students, helping them overcome life’s challenges and continue pursuing their educational dreams.

We wish Ngoc Anh a speedy recovery and a return to the classroom as soon as possible to continue pursuing an unfinished dream. The road ahead remains long, but with strong determination and the love of family, teachers and friends, we believe Anh will overcome every obstacle. NEU will always stand alongside Anh at every step of the journey!
