3,500 Students and Parents Attend 2025 Admissions and Career Counseling Day at National Economics University

This morning (May 25, 2025), National Economics University (NEU) organized NEU Open Day 2025, an admissions and career counseling day, attracting thousands of prospective students and parents. This is one of the key activities in the 2025 admissions counseling series, providing comprehensive information about fields of study, admissions methods, and career opportunities after graduating from NEU.

The event attracted nearly 3,500 high school students and parents from various localities.

Attending the program were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President; Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs; representatives of the leadership of schools, departments, faculties, institutes, and centers; faculty and staff; and, notably, a large number of parents and students from provinces and cities across the country attending NEU Open Day 2025.

Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, delivers remarks.

On behalf of NEU’s faculty and staff, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong warmly welcomed delegates, teachers, and especially parents and students who had taken an interest in and made time to attend the University’s NEU Open Day 2025 event today.

Addressing prospective students, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong cited a famous passage from the novel “How the Steel Was Tempered” by Nikolai Alekseevich Ostrovsky: “A person lives only once. One must live so as not to feel painful regret over years spent aimlessly and wasted.” He added, “I believe that NEU is the choice for you to begin that meaningful journey.”

Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong shared that upon entering NEU, students would develop three fundamental attributes: knowledge, skills, and ethical qualities and resilience. They would have access to a vast system of learning resources and data repositories comparable to those at major universities around the world. Each year, NEU purchases databases from all the world’s renowned journals.

Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong also said that in the coming period, nearly 100% of NEU courses are expected to offer learning resources including electronic textbooks, course syllabi, lecture slides, video lectures, and audio lectures, among others, aligned as closely as possible with international-standard curricula to provide students with the best and most up-to-date knowledge. In addition, students will apply the knowledge gained from these extensive learning resources to practical situations, enabling them to develop and hone skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, thinking, problem-solving, and coping with crises.

“Beyond knowledge and skills, we also place great emphasis on developing resilience. Resilience in modern individuals manifests itself in many ways, through facing difficulties and challenges in life and examining all issues in society to build their own value systems. We hope that when you become NEU students, you will develop a sound worldview, your own value systems, and compassion for those around you,” Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong emphasized.

MSc. Hoang Thanh Ha, Principal Specialist at the Department of Academic Affairs and member of the 2025 Full-Time Undergraduate Admissions Counseling Committee, introduces and provides an overview of NEU’s 2025 full-time undergraduate admissions information.

Sharing information and answering questions from prospective students and parents at the program, Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs, said that this year, many prospective students and parents were interested in fields of study and academic programs that could anticipate future career trends amid the powerful impact of technology.

In addition, in 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training made several adjustments to admissions regulations to ensure greater fairness and make admissions across the system more efficient and streamlined. However, many prospective students still do not clearly understand these changes and continue to have concerns and questions, particularly about converting admission cutoff scores into equivalent scores across admissions methods and subject combinations used for admission review.

“Applicants can rest assured that during admission review, score conversions will use their strongest results across admissions methods. You should therefore take the time to carefully research fields of study and careers so that you can select the best and most suitable preferences when registering for admission review in the coming period. We also advise you to focus on reviewing for the national high school graduation exam to achieve the best possible results, which will give you more opportunities to gain admission to your preferred field of study and university,” Dr. Le Anh Duc shared.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, and Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs, answer questions from prospective students and parents.

In 2025, NEU has a total admissions quota of 8,500 places (an increase of approximately 7% compared with 2024), including 8,200 places for full-time undergraduate programs and 300 places for full-time undergraduate transfer programs.

The University offers admission under 73 admissions codes (an increase of seven codes over the previous year), corresponding to 89 academic programs. These include two new fields of study, both taught in Vietnamese: International Trade Law and Labor Relations.

Admissions methods remain unchanged from 2024. The University allocates 3% of its quota to direct admission under Ministry of Education and Training regulations and 97% to admission review based on 2024 national high school graduation exam scores and combined admission review.

Direct admission applies to applicants who win first, second, or third prizes in national or international competitions for outstanding students organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or to which the Ministry sends participants, and applicants who win first prizes in national or international science and engineering competitions organized by the Ministry or to which it sends participants.

Admission review based solely on 2025 national high school graduation exam scores applies to all of NEU’s 2025 admissions codes, using four subject combinations (A00, A01, D01, D07), with no differences in admission review scores among the combinations.

Combined admission review applies to all 2025 admissions codes and three groups of applicants.

Group 1: Applicants with international SAT or ACT credentials.

Group 2: Applicants with scores from the competency assessment test (HSA) of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, or the competency assessment test (APT) of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, or the thinking skills assessment (TSA) of Hanoi University of Science and Technology; or applicants with international English certificates—IELTS/TOEFL iBT/four-skill TOEIC—combined with one of the HSA/APT/TSA scores mentioned above.

Group 3: Applicants with international English certificates—IELTS/TOEFL iBT/four-skill TOEIC—combined with 2025 national high school graduation exam scores.

In 2025, for the first time, NEU’s advanced and high-quality programs will admit students from the outset under five separate codes, comprising two codes for advanced programs and three for high-quality programs (unlike previous years, when these programs admitted students after they had gained admission and enrolled).

NEU leaders visit areas offering in-person counseling for prospective students at the NEU Open Day 2025 admissions and career counseling day.

All questions from parents and students are answered enthusiastically and in detail.
