National Economics University (NEU) Enhances International Collaboration with Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
On the morning of May 27, 2026, National Economics University held a meeting with the delegation from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China (SUFE) to discuss directions for collaboration in training, academic research, and international academic exchange.

Overview of the Meeting
Attending the meeting on behalf of National Economics University were: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice President; Dr. Dao Thanh Tung – Head of International Collaboration Department; Prof. Dr. Ta Van Loi – Rector of College of Business, Dean of School of Trade & International Economics; Dr. Vu Van Ngoc – Dean of Center for Advanced Eduction Programs; along with representatives from various units, staff, and faculty members of the University.
On behalf of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics were: Prof. JIN Yuying – Vice President, concurrently Dean of the School of Business; Prof. DONG Jing – Director of the Institute of International Cultural Exchange; Prof. ZHAO Ke – Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; Prof. DING Haoyuan – Director of the Southern Institute of Global Finance and Economics, concurrently Deputy Dean of the School of Business; along with other members of the delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice President affirmed that the National Economics University always values the strategy of internationalizing higher education, in which collaboration with prestigious educational institutions in China is one of the important directions to enhance the quality of training, academic research, and the international integration capacity of the University’s students and faculty members.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu emphasized: “National Economics University wishes to continue expanding and deepening the cooperative relationship with Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in various fields such as academic research, student exchange, development of international academic programs, and academic networking. This will be an important foundation for both sides to leverage their strengths, promote innovation, and train high-quality human resources in the context of global integration.”

Representing the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. JIN Yuying, Vice President and Dean of the School of Business, highly appreciates the reputation, quality of education, and international development orientation of the National Economics University (NEU). He also expressed his expectation that the two universities will continue to strengthen substantive, effective, and long-term collaboration in the future.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. JIN Yuying, the similarities in development orientation and strengths in education in the fields of economics, finance, and management provide a favorable foundation for both parties to expand academic cooperation programs, student exchanges, and joint research, thereby promoting educational exchange and economic cooperation between Vietnam and China.
Within the framework of the program, both parties focused on discussing several important cooperation contents. Notably, NEU and the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics discussed plans to establish a joint research center between the Southern Global Finance and Economics Institute – SUFE and the College of Business – NEU, aiming to promote academic research activities, policy consultation, and expert connections in the fields of economics, finance, and management.
Both parties also agreed to continue perfecting the organization of the 2026 SummerExchange Program, the study and experience program for SUFE students at NEU, and the Digital Chinese Summer Camp program for NEU students at SUFE. This is considered an activity that contributes to expanding cultural exchange, enhancing international experience, and improving integration capacity for students of both universities.
Additionally, the two universities discussed the potential implementation of a dual-degree bachelor’s program in the 2+2 model, creating opportunities for students to study in both Vietnam and China, access an international educational environment, and enhance their professional, language, and global skills.
In the field of academic research, both parties expressed their desire to promote joint research related to Vietnam-China economic-trade relations, national economic management, supply chain coordination, and many other key areas. They also aim to strengthen academic cooperation, connect experts, and contribute scientific arguments to support bilateral and regional economic cooperation.
