Conference to Review Testing Activities in 2024 and Implement Question Banks

On the morning of January 2, 2025, National Economics University (NEU) held a conference to review testing activities in 2024 and implement question banks.

An overview of the dialogue

Attending the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Van Loi, Rector of the College of Business; Prof. Dr. Do Thi Hai Ha, Rector of the College of Economics and Public Management; Dr. Dam Son Toai, Head of the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assurance; leadership representatives from colleges, departments, faculties, institutes, and centers; faculty representatives; and faculty and staff authorized to oversee courses.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, speaks at the event

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong noted that NEU has consistently paid particular attention to testing and quality assurance. At the same time, the educational quality assessment standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), as well as external assessment teams, have imposed increasingly stringent requirements for assessing the extent to which learners achieve academic program learning outcomes. Training, developing test banks, and designing course examinations appropriate for learning outcomes-based assessment are therefore particularly important.

Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong expressed his hope that, through the day’s conference, lecturers would exchange ideas and share experiences, enabling them to effectively develop and implement question banks and test banks, as well as conduct testing and assessment activities that meet course learning outcomes in accordance with accreditation standards.

Dr. Ta Manh Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assurance, presents the review report and introduces and provides guidance on the test bank system and the computer-based essay examination system.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Huyen, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Marketing, shares experience in assessing student achievement of course learning outcomes.

Developing and implementing question banks and developing test banks for essay and multiple-choice examinations aim to standardize the testing and assessment of students’ learning results. Maintaining, building, and developing examination question banks make an important contribution to objectively and accurately assessing students’ learning results while improving the quality of lecturers’ teaching. The conference also aimed to review testing activities in 2024, provide training on developing test banks for essay and multiple-choice examinations, and implement arrangements for computer-based essay examinations at NEU in the coming academic year.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, delivers closing remarks at the conference.

Dr. Dam Son Toai, Head of the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assurance, serves as the conference moderator.
