Ceremony to Announce the Decision Recognizing the President of National Economics University

National Economics University (NEU) will formally hold a ceremony to announce the Decision recognizing the President of the University at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Hall A2, National Economics University, 207 Giai Phong Road, Bach Mai Ward, Hanoi.

At the ceremony, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) will present the Decision recognizing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong as President of NEU. This significant event marks a generational transition in leadership and opens a new phase of development for NEU. The appointment of a new President provides an opportunity for the University to reaffirm its strategic vision, its focus on innovation and knowledge transfer, and its commitment to serving the country’s development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, born in 1973, is an alumnus of Cohort 32 in Economics at NEU. He earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Boise State University, United States, in 1997 and successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in Economics at NEU in 2007. He was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2011 and the title of Meritorious Teacher by the State in 2020. He is currently a senior lecturer at the University.

Before his appointment as President of NEU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong served as Vice President with overall responsibility for undergraduate and graduate education; management of advanced, high-quality and POHE programs; examinations and educational quality assurance; university accreditation and rankings; and communications, among other areas.

Over more than 30 years at NEU, beginning as a student, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong successively served as a lecturer; Secretary of the Youth Union chapter of the Faculty of International Economics and Business; Deputy Director of the Center for International Business Consulting and Training; Chief of Office of the Management Board for Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs; Director of the Center/Dean of the Institute of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs; Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel; and Vice President of NEU under its former and current organizational models.

The appointment of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong as President of NEU not only demonstrates the confidence of the Party Committee, the University Council, and the faculty and staff in a dedicated educator with experience and management capabilities, but also affirms the University’s determination to continue renewing its university governance model, implement comprehensive digital transformation, improve the quality of education and scientific research, and deepen international integration.

With his strategic vision and deep understanding of the University’s operations, Assoc.
