To: Students and learners at the University

According to Microsoft’s announcement, effective August 1, 2025, the total storage limit for NEU’s Microsoft 365 accounts will restrict OneDrive storage to an average of approximately 10 GB per user. To safeguard each individual’s data and ensure the smooth operation of the Microsoft 365 system, the Center for Information Technology Application requests that students and learners comply with the following rules for Microsoft 365 accounts provided by the University:

1. Effective September 29, 2025, the OneDrive storage limit for students and learners is 10 GB. If their storage exceeds the 10 GB limit, students and learners must transfer data to another storage medium and delete data to bring their OneDrive storage usage below the limit.
2. Data deletion period: September 29, 2025, through October 15, 2025. After this period, students’ and learners’ OneDrive accounts that still exceed the 10 GB storage limit will be temporarily locked, and the learners will be unable to access the University’s IT services.
3. To unlock a temporarily locked account, learners must contact the Center for Information Technology Application in Room 1610, Building A1, to delete data and reactivate the account.
4. Students’ and learners’ Microsoft 365 accounts will be deleted six months after graduation. Therefore, immediately after graduation, learners should proactively back up their data and other content (if needed).
