Seminar on “Modern Teaching and Learning Methods” at National Economics University

On the morning of November 6, 2024, a seminar on “Modern Teaching and Learning Methods” took place at National Economics University (NEU).

An overview of the seminar

Attending the seminar were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU; Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs; leadership representatives from schools, departments, faculties, institutes, and centers; and faculty and staff who participated in short-term study and training abroad during 2022-2024.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, delivers remarks

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong shared that, in the context of global integration, NEU continually strives to build education and research connections with reputable universities worldwide. To date, the University has established partnerships in many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, and Canada. These partnerships help students—the central focus of modern education—pursue undergraduate and graduate studies at renowned universities worldwide. They also strengthen short-term training and professional development programs for lecturers.

Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, expressed his hope that the seminar would provide an opportunity for lecturers sent abroad for short-term study during 2022-2024 to meet and share their experiences in higher education environments abroad, as well as modern teaching and learning methods. Through these exchanges, they could draw lessons to apply to teaching and learning at NEU.

Lecturers from the groups share their experiences at the seminar

At the seminar, lecturers exchanged numerous ideas and suggestions, including encouraging the use of digital resources such as interactive presentations, educational videos, and online learning platforms to organize course materials and assignments and provide a platform for interaction between students and lecturers; incorporating a variety of collaborative learning activities, such as group projects, peer assessment, self-assessment, and discussion forums, to encourage students to work together and learn from one another; using modern technologies such as interactive whiteboards, tablets, and educational applications to enhance the learning experience; establishing clear goals and routines from the start of a course, including setting rules for behavior, scheduling the course, and explaining testing and assessment regulations; providing regular feedback on assignments; and encouraging students to reflect on their learning experiences through peer assessment and self-assessment…
