Press Release on the Presentation of the “World Social Protection Report 2024–2026”

I. Background

The International Labour Organization (ILO) officially launched its “World Social Protection Report 2024–2026: Universal social protection for climate action and a just transition” globally on September 12, 2024. Alongside the global report, the ILO also published the “Regional companion report for Asia and the Pacific” on September 30, 2024.

The companion report comes at a critical time, as Asia and the Pacific faces the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the threat of climate change, and persistent challenges associated with informality and demographic change. The report shows positive developments in social protection coverage in the region. However, disparities in progress and financial sustainability, together with the need to address the impacts of climate change, highlight the need for comprehensive improvements to social protection systems. Against this backdrop, National Economics University (NEU), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), is organizing a presentation of the “World Social Protection Report 2024–2026.”

II. Objectives and Content
