It is an institution that educates leading politicians, entrepreneurs and scholars in economics, management and business administration nationwide.
According to Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, today’s graduation ceremony marked a special milestone for every student in the University’s advanced programs. They had impressively demonstrated their resilience and inner strength in completing a four-year journey of learning, acquiring knowledge and developing essential soft skills.
“With what you have achieved today, I am confident that you are ready to effectively apply the knowledge and skills you have learned to your work and lives, think independently, and turn difficulties and challenges into opportunities to establish yourselves and create positive values for yourselves and society. Whatever positions you hold, you will always work with passion and dedication, contributing to the proud tradition of one of the country’s leading educational institutions,” the President told the graduates.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong also noted that the graduates were entering the world of work amid considerable global uncertainty and risks ahead, but also numerous opportunities to access humanity’s remarkable achievements in the digital age. Difficulties and challenges always go hand in hand with opportunities.
“This is precisely the environment in which you can demonstrate the resilience of advanced program students—people who truly deserve to be called advanced and pioneering members of their generation,” said Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong.

Speaking after the ceremony, Dr. Vu Van Ngoc, Dean of the Institute of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs, said that 75% of the advanced program students graduating in this round achieved very good or excellent classifications. Despite its very high graduation requirements, the advanced program has one of the highest rates of students receiving their degrees on time.
Launched in 2006, the advanced program is a project of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training. NEU was the first university to pilot the program, initially with the Advanced Finance program within the Finance and Banking major. NEU now offers five advanced programs: in addition to Advanced Finance, these include Advanced Accounting, Advanced International Business Administration, Advanced Financial Planning and Advanced Business Administration.
According to Dr. Vu Van Ngoc, there are four fundamental differences between advanced programs and regular academic programs.
First, advanced programs use the curriculum of a foreign partner university—in NEU’s case, California State University, Long Beach, United States. Alongside the foreign partner university’s curriculum, students still take subjects required under Vietnamese law, such as political theory, national defense education and physical education courses. Second, 100% of courses are taught in English.
Third, students use original textbooks from reputable universities worldwide, all provided free of charge. Fourth, approximately 30% of courses are taught by professors currently holding positions abroad, using textbooks and curricula similar to those of the partner university.
Advanced program students can also transfer to partner universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Netherlands and other countries. They can therefore receive degrees from both the partner university and NEU. Students also participate very frequently in practical activities at businesses.
All of NEU’s advanced programs are accredited by ACBSP (United States), a reputable global accreditation organization for business academic programs.
Dr. Vu Van Ngoc also said that NEU’s advanced program students are highly regarded by the business community. This is why the University has continued to expand from one initial program to five programs.
Dr. Vu Van Ngoc further noted that, starting with the 2025 admissions cycle, the University’s advanced programs will admit students directly from the outset under two admissions codes. Students will select the advanced programs when submitting their applications for admission review and, once admitted, will choose their preferred academic program within the relevant admissions code.
MSc. Bui Duc Dung, Head of the Department of General Affairs, hosts the ceremony.
