Towards the 70th anniversary of the National Economics University, on the evening of August 5, 2026, the finals of the MIS Talent 2026 competition with the theme “Designing AI Agents – Optimizing Business Operations” took place at the National Economics University. Gathering outstanding teams from various universities across the country, the competition continues to affirm its role as an academic playground, promoting innovation and the application of artificial intelligence in education, research, and solving practical problems.

Overview of the Program

MIS Talent 2026 is organized by the Faculty of Management Information Systems, School of Technology, National Economics University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, and the Faculty of Statistics – Informatics, University of Economics – University of Danang. Launched in May 2026, the competition attracted nearly 600 students from 120 universities with 144 teams participating, becoming a nationwide academic playground for young enthusiasts of technology, data, artificial intelligence, and business management.

The highlight of this year’s competition is the composition of the teams in the final night, clearly demonstrating the spirit of interdisciplinary, inter-university, and knowledge linkage. The teams not only include students from Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or E-commerce, but also feature students from Finance – Banking, Business Administration, International Business, Accounting, Economics and Construction Management, Mathematics – Informatics. Many teams were formed from the combination and alliance of students from different universities such as National Economics University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, University of Danang, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Commerce, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, University of Economics – Industrial Engineering… This diversity has created the special depth of MIS Talent 2026.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet – Head of the Faculty of Management Information Systems, National Economics University, stated that the strong development of data, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital technology is changing the way businesses operate, while also posing a requirement for innovation in higher education. According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet, continuously updating the curriculum, strengthening collaboration with businesses, and linking learning activities with practical experience will help students enhance their ability to apply technology, adapt to the digital work environment, and expand career opportunities.

In this context, MIS Talent is not only an academic playground but also an environment for students to apply knowledge to solve practical problems, better understand the needs of businesses, and cultivate innovative thinking before entering the labor market.

While last season focused on Generative AI, this year shifts to Agentic AI, reflecting the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the curriculum’s adaptability to practical demands.

According to him, AI is gradually becoming a “digital colleague,” capable of collaborating with humans, connecting data, and autonomously executing many business processes. However, the core value lies not in the strength of the AI model but in the ability to design intelligent processes, effectively integrating AI into business operations in a safe and responsible manner.

“Academic platforms like MIS Talent help bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and the practical demands of businesses, while also creating high-quality human resources for the national digital transformation process,” he emphasized.

With this year’s theme, MIS Talent 2026 focuses on designing AI agents capable of assisting businesses in automating processes, enhancing operational efficiency, supporting decision-making, improving customer experience, and optimizing management activities. This is a timely approach, reflecting the significant shift of artificial intelligence from a supportive tool to “digital colleagues” capable of collaborating with humans in a modern work environment.

After the Preliminary and Final rounds, MIS Talent 2026 continues with the Semi-finals held in all three regions: North, Central, and South, providing opportunities for students from various universities nationwide to compete directly and showcase their abilities. From the regional Semi-finals, the Organizing Committee selected the 6 best teams, including 2 representatives from the North (Team TSD and Newbie), 2 from the Central region (No.1 and Q1 A++), and 2 from the South (Roblox and VITA), to advance to the national Final at the National Economics University.

The teams in the final round introduced themselves, presented their projects, defended their solutions before the Judging Panel, and participated in direct debates on designing AI agents in businesses.

The competitions demonstrated the students’ quick adaptability, creative thinking, and professional expertise in response to new technological trends. Many solutions were built on the foundation of Agentic AI, aiming to automate operations, analyze data, support process coordination, enhance organizational operational capacity, and create practical value for businesses.

The Outstanding Team Wins the Championship at ROBLOX

In the final results, the Roblox team from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics claimed the championship; Team TSD (comprising members from the National Economics University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and University of Civil Engineering) secured the runner-up position; two third-place awards went to No.1 and Newbie; two promising awards were given to VITA and Q1 A++. Team VITA also received the title of Most Popular Team.
