Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh – Vice President of the National Economics University speaking
Speaking at the Conference, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh – Vice President of the National Economics University emphasized that over 70 years of establishment and development, the University has consistently nurtured an academic environment that values knowledge, independent thinking, and creativity. In this tradition, student academic research is not a peripheral activity but an important part of the educational process, helping learners gradually transition from acquiring knowledge to discovering, verifying, and creating new knowledge.
According to Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh, behind each recognized project are many months of serious work by both teachers and students. The value of student academic research is thus not only reflected in the awards but, more importantly, in the process where learners cultivate perseverance, honesty, critical thinking, and creativity in research. The Vice President of the University also commended the students with award-winning projects; acknowledged the dedication of the guiding lecturers as well as the proactive efforts of the schools, faculties, institutes, functional units, Youth Union, Association, and academic clubs in maintaining and enhancing the quality of student academic research activities.
In the context where science, technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence are rapidly changing the way people learn and work, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh particularly advises students on the use of new tools in research, emphasizing the need for academic honesty and integrity.
“Technology can help us work faster, but the quality of a project still depends on a good research question, critical thinking, the ability to verify information, and the researcher’s responsibility,” Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh emphasized.
From this requirement, the Vice President of the University wishes for the faculty to continue considering student academic research as an integral part of the training process. The guidance of the lecturers not only helps students complete a project but also inspires a passion for research, laying the foundation for them to join research groups, engage in larger-scale projects, and gradually develop academic capabilities.
For the University’s units, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh suggests continuing to expand academic exchange spaces, creating conditions for students to access data and participate more in research groups and projects associated with enterprises, localities, and management agencies. High-quality projects should be supported for further completion, publication, and application, thereby enhancing the substance and impact of student academic research activities. The National Economics University is committed to continuing to invest resources, perfect support mechanisms, and build an academic environment that encourages creativity among students.
“In the journey of 70 years and beyond, I hope each student not only learns to master specialized knowledge but also knows how to think independently and creatively. The students’ projects today may be initial steps, but from these beginnings will emerge researchers, experts, managers, and workers with the capacity for thinking, creativity, and responsibility in the future to contribute to the community and the country,” shared Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh.
