Attending the Conference were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong – Vice President of the University; MSc. Bui Thi Sen – Director of the Information and Library Center; along with representatives of the leadership from Schools, Departments, Faculties, Institutes, Centers; Assistants from the Faculties and Institutes within the University; and representatives of students from regular undergraduate specialized classes.
In his opening remarks at the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong – Vice President of the National Economics University expressed his delight at the proactive and enthusiastic spirit of the numerous students, especially the new K68 students, who voluntarily registered to participate in exploring and utilizing academic resources. According to the Vice President, the students’ interest demonstrates their learning awareness, inquisitive spirit, and increasing demand for knowledge access in the modern higher education environment.
Emphasizing the profound changes in how humans access, create, and use knowledge under the influence of digital technology, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong stated that in an era where information can be searched in just seconds, the most crucial capability of learners no longer lies in the amount of information accessible, but in the ability to identify, evaluate, analyze, and transform information into valuable knowledge. For students, the core is to know how to ask the right questions, choose reliable sources, apply appropriate research methods, and form independent arguments based on critical thinking.

From this perspective, the Vice President affirmed that the 2026 Conference on the Introduction of Electronic Resources holds practical significance in equipping students with the capacity for learning, research, and knowledge exploitation. The National Economics University has been focusing on developing a digital library system, expanding access to international academic databases, and gradually building a modern academic ecosystem to serve the goals of enhancing the quality of education, academic research, innovation, and international integration.
“The value of a library does not lie merely in the number of resources it possesses, but in the amount of knowledge created from those resources,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong emphasized. Accordingly, the University’s goal is not simply to build a library with abundant resources, but more importantly, to develop the ability to exploit, analyze, and apply knowledge for faculty members and students, thereby enhancing the academic quality and research capacity of the University.
Outlining future tasks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong suggested that the Information and Library Center continue to modernize its infrastructure and digital resources, innovate service methods to be more convenient and learner-friendly; shift focus from providing materials to developing skills in searching, evaluating, and utilizing academic information. Additionally, he emphasized the application of artificial intelligence in library operations, gradually developing tools to support search, recommend materials, connect knowledge sources, and personalize learning experiences. The Vice President also urged faculties, institutes, and faculty members to integrate the ability to exploit academic resources, critical thinking, and academic integrity into the training process.
Particularly addressing the use of artificial intelligence in learning and academic research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong stressed the need to exploit technology proactively and responsibly, ensuring that AI tools do not replace the thinking process and creativity of learners. The university is developing regulations on the use of AI in training and academic research, aiming to leverage technological achievements while ensuring academic standards. According to the Vice President, NEU students need to go beyond merely using technology to gradually master it, develop independent thinking, critical capacity, and the ability to create new knowledge and values.
Affirming that knowledge, critical thinking, and academic integrity are crucial foundations of a modern university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong expressed his expectation that the Conference will contribute to forming new learning habits among students, especially the new K68 cohort: proactively accessing high-quality knowledge sources, researching according to academic standards, and applying knowledge to create practical values for society. This is also the direction that NEU continues to pursue in its process of innovating education, developing lifelong learning capabilities, and enhancing academic standing regionally and internationally.
