According to the University President, in the year the National Economics University celebrates its 70th anniversary, the 35-year journey of the Institute is even more meaningful as it is intertwined with half of the university’s journey of building and development, contributing to establishing the reputation and position of the National Economics University in the field of economic and management education and research.
Emphasizing the unique characteristics of the accounting and auditing fields, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho stated that these professions are closely associated with honesty, accuracy, and responsibility, playing a crucial role in ensuring financial transparency and strengthening market confidence. Therefore, in addition to equipping students with professional knowledge, training human resources in accounting and auditing also requires a focus on professional standards, courage, and the sense of responsibility of practitioners.
Evaluating the outstanding achievements of the Institute, the University Director affirmed that over 35 years, the Institute of Accounting and Auditing has become one of the strengths, significantly contributing to the quality of education and academic reputation of the University. From this institution, tens of thousands of bachelor’s and master’s graduates and hundreds of doctoral graduates have matured, taking on important positions in government agencies, corporations, businesses, and auditing firms both domestically and internationally.
In the field of education, the Institute has proactively innovated its curriculum, expanded international collaboration, and strengthened connections with professional organizations. Alongside joint programs with prestigious higher education institutions such as Cardiff Metropolitan University, the Bachelor of Accounting and Auditing program in English, integrated with the ICAEW CFAB international certificate, has attracted nearly 1,000 students, about 70% of whom work at Big 4 auditing firms and multinational corporations. These results demonstrate the Institute’s efforts in enhancing the quality of education to meet the increasingly high demands of the labor market.
Alongside education, the Institute’s faculty members and researchers actively participate in policy critique in the fields of accounting and auditing; simultaneously, they are gradually incorporating content on digital accounting, data analysis, and sustainable development reporting (ESG) into the curriculum. First, continue to enhance the quality of academic programs to international standards, increase the integration of global professional certifications, and promote the application of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in education. Along with that, the Institute should leverage its capacity for academic research and policy consultancy at the national level in accounting, auditing, financial transparency, and sustainable development reporting, thereby elevating the University’s academic standing.
The University Director also emphasized the need to expand collaboration with higher education institutions, professional associations, auditing firms, and businesses both domestically and internationally; gradually build a modern, digitalized training and research environment, and strengthen connections with the alumni network. In the development process, the Institute must continue to uphold the core values of the profession, particularly integrity, accuracy, and social responsibility.
