Speaking at the opening ceremony for the NEU E-learning distance education program’s cohort two in Japan, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, welcomed the new students and emphasized the special significance of this event in the journey to expand online education internationally.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu also congratulated the new students on their outstanding achievement in gaining admission to the E-Learning academic program at NEU, one of Vietnam’s leading educational institutions in economics, management, and business administration. He particularly emphasized that, amid rapid globalization and digital transformation, online education has become and continues to be an essential solution for expanding access to quality learning opportunities for all.

The Vice President said that, guided by a commitment to pioneering innovation and applying modern technology, the E-Learning program in Japan marks an important step in efforts to support the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working abroad. “We understand the challenges you face in a foreign country, but we also firmly believe in every learner’s desire to learn and develop. NEU-Elearning will serve as a bridge, enabling you to access advanced knowledge flexibly and effectively, without the constraints of space or time.”

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu also shared the University’s notable advances over the past year. Over nearly 70 years of development, NEU has continually affirmed its position as a leading national center for education and research. Generations of its students have held and continue to hold important positions in bodies of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government, and major enterprises. In particular, 2024 marked two milestones to be proud of: the Prime Minister signed a decision transforming National Economics University from a university into a comprehensive university, and the University received institutional quality accreditation and certification from the education quality accreditation organization FIBAA (Switzerland). The University has been implementing a development strategy with a vision of becoming one of Vietnam’s five leading multidisciplinary research universities and one of Asia’s top 100 universities in economics, management, and business administration.

Addressing the new students, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu expressed his hope that today’s opening ceremony would mark not only the beginning of a course of study but also a journey of pursuing knowledge filled with challenges and opportunities. The University is committed to supporting students, creating the best possible conditions for their learning, and continually innovating to help them realize their full potential.

On this occasion, the Vice President also expressed his deep gratitude to the partners that have supported the program. He acknowledged and commended the contributions of faculty and staff, particularly the Center for Distance Education, to developing the E-Learning education model. He also affirmed that effective collaboration among the parties not only improves the quality of the Vietnamese workforce in Japan but also helps spread knowledge and connect the Vietnamese intellectual community worldwide.
