Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, emphasized that throughout its nearly 70-year history of establishment and development, NEU has always taken pride in pioneering innovation and the development and dissemination of knowledge in economics, management and business administration; attracting and educating talented individuals; and providing high-quality human resources to serve the country’s sustainable development.

In recent years, the University has made new strides, becoming a multidisciplinary university spanning multiple fields and taking the lead in digital transformation and the application of technology in education and scientific research. The University has also affirmed its standing and reputation worldwide, securing a high position in The University Impact Ranking compiled by Times Higher Education, a leading global ranking organization.

Addressing the new graduates, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong said that the graduation ceremony marked a special milestone in each person’s life. They had demonstrated exceptional resolve and inner strength in completing a four-year journey of learning and acquiring knowledge and skills. “The world of work out there may present many difficulties, and the world is undergoing profound changes. However, I am confident that you are ready and will effectively apply the knowledge and skills you have learned to your work and life; think independently; and turn difficulties and challenges into opportunities to establish yourselves and create positive values for yourselves and the community. Whatever position you hold, you will always work with passion and dedication, helping to uphold the proud tradition of National Economics University,” Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong said.

The President also reminded the new graduates that the road ahead would offer many opportunities and challenges, but that they should remember they would always be members of NEU. The University and its lecturers would always be a welcoming home, ready to receive them with open arms. “What you take with you after four years—the hardships and struggles of yesterday—will shape your resilience and intellect today and give you confidence in success tomorrow,” Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong said.

Speaking on behalf of the new graduates, Pham Viet Quang of Advanced International Business Administration Class 63C shared that the 63rd cohort had an exceptionally unusual start, entering university amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet the beauty of this journey lay not in its starting point or destination, but in the moments he and his fellow students had experienced along the way.

“Over the past four years, we have overcome so many challenges together, gaining a wealth of experiences and valuable lessons that have enabled us to stand here today. Although the road ahead is long and full of obstacles, I believe we will not give up, because what we have learned at this University is not just knowledge, but also resilience and the ability to face difficulties,” Viet Quang said.

Expressing his profound gratitude to the lecturers, he affirmed that the new graduates would continue striving, developing and improving themselves to reach new heights. “In the nation’s era of advancement, as our country undergoes transformation and develops with tremendous momentum, we will also strive continually to serve and contribute our energy and intellect to the country’s development, to live up to the expectations and trust that our lecturers, families and society have placed in us, and to be worthy students of National Economics University and the Institute of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs,” Viet Quang shared.

Speaking on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony, Dr. Vu Van Ngoc, Dean of the Institute of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs, said that NEU was among the pioneers in introducing advanced programs in 2006 under a Decision of the Prime Minister.

These programs are based on the textbooks, course syllabi and curriculum framework of California State University, Long Beach (United States) and are taught entirely in English, with approximately 30% of courses taught directly by international lecturers. Students have opportunities to transfer and earn degrees at reputable universities such as Macquarie and Griffith (Australia), East Anglia (United Kingdom), Waikato (New Zealand) and Saxion (Netherlands), among others.

NEU currently offers five advanced programs and 16 high-quality programs, with 30–50% of courses taught in English, using foreign textbooks provided free of charge to students.

In particular, the application-oriented POHE academic program, a collaboration between the Governments of Vietnam and the Netherlands, continues to be expanded to meet the practical needs of the labor market. POHE students take up to eight practical courses at enterprises, which provide direct guidance and even participate in assessing learning outcomes, equipping students with practical workplace competencies immediately upon graduation.
