Following five days of intensive, serious, responsible and effective work by the external evaluation team and the faculty, staff and students of eight full-time undergraduate programs and four undergraduate distance education programs, National Economics University (NEU), in collaboration with the Thang Long Center for Education Quality Accreditation, held the closing ceremony for the official external evaluation site visit for its academic programs on the morning of August 26, 2025.

An overview of the event

Representing the Thang Long Center for Education Quality Accreditation at the event were Dr. Nguyen Van Duong, Director; Dr. Phi Thi Nguyet Thanh, Deputy Director and Standing Member; Dr. Pham Minh Dam, Head of the Center’s Department of Evaluation and Recognition and Secretary of the evaluation team; Tran Thi Van, Supervisor of the external evaluation team; and representatives of the leadership of the Center’s units.

Representing the external evaluation teams were Prof. Dr. Sc. Bui Van Ga, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training and Head of the external evaluation team for distance education programs; Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam, former President of the University of Danang and Head of the external evaluation team for full-time programs; and experts from both external evaluation teams.

Representing NEU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Chair of the NEU Trade Union; Dr. Dam Son Toai, Head of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assurance; representatives of the leadership of schools, departments, faculties, institutes and centers; and University staff and specialists.

On behalf of the external evaluation team, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam, former President of the University of Danang and Head of the external evaluation team, presented the preliminary report on the findings of the official site visit for NEU’s 12 academic programs. The report outlined the team’s work, from reviewing supporting documentation to conducting the preliminary and official site visits, to provide observations, assessments and recommendations to help the University develop plans to improve the quality of education in the coming period.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of NEU, delivers remarks

On behalf of NEU’s leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong expressed his deep gratitude to the external evaluation team for its serious, systematic and objective work over the preceding days, undertaken with a constructive spirit and a strong sense of responsibility.

During its work, the evaluation team comprehensively reviewed NEU’s activities, from university governance, education, scientific research and international cooperation to learner support services, facilities and community service activities.

The President emphasized: “We fully recognize that external evaluation is not merely a quality accreditation procedure, but also an opportunity for NEU to reflect on itself, renew itself and improve.” The evaluation findings not only identified strengths to build on but also offered many valuable recommendations to help the University improve and enhance quality across all areas.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of NEU, affirmed that the University would act on all recommendations and develop a quality improvement plan, viewing this as a driving force for innovation and for affirming NEU’s reputation and standing within Vietnam’s higher education system and in the process of international integration.

On behalf of the Thang Long Center for Education Quality Accreditation, Dr. Nguyen Van Duong, Director, thanked and commended the experts on the external evaluation team for their serious, objective, impartial and transparent approach to their work. He also thanked and commended NEU’s faculty, staff and students for their coordination, proactive handling of tasks and responsible cooperation throughout the evaluation activities conducted by the Center and the external evaluation team. Dr. Nguyen Van Duong affirmed that the University’s comprehensive cooperation was one of the key factors determining the success of the official site visit in particular and education quality accreditation in general.

At the end of the closing session, Prof. Dr. Sc.
