Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of NEU, speaks at the conference

On behalf of the University’s leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of NEU, presented a summary of the two drafts: (1) the Plan for Implementing National Economics University’s Development Strategy for 2026-2030 and (2) the Plan for Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of National Economics University (1956-2026).

According to the draft, the series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary is expected to span 11 months, beginning on January 25, 2026, and concluding at the end of November 2026, with a range of meaningful activities centered on gratitude, connection, and development. Six priority groups of activities have been identified: communications; anniversary ceremonies, gatherings, and commendations; scientific conferences and seminars; expanding and developing international cooperation; community activities and alumni-student connections; and cultural, sports, and arts events.

Alongside this, the draft “Plan for Implementing National Economics University’s Development Strategy for 2026-2030” was developed amid profound changes in Vietnam’s higher education driven by globalization, digital transformation, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, demonstrating NEU’s commitment to pioneering innovation, integration, and sustainable development.

Accordingly, NEU aims to become a research-oriented, multidisciplinary university spanning multiple fields by 2030, ranking among Vietnam’s top five universities and Asia’s top 100 universities in economics, management, business administration, and information technology. By 2045, it aspires to become an international-class university and a globally respected center of knowledge and innovation.

The strategy focuses on eight key development pillars: (1) Improving the quality of education and learner support; (2) Promoting scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation; (3) Developing extensive international cooperation; (4) Completing digital transformation and refining IT applications; (5) Building an outstanding workforce and an advanced academic culture; (6) Developing sustainable finances and green, smart facilities; (7) Strengthening cooperative ties and mobilizing societal resources; and (8) Promoting accreditation, rankings, and quality assurance in line with international standards. The plan also establishes a system of quantitative targets (KPIs), a specific implementation roadmap, and flexible monitoring and adjustment mechanisms, ensuring that all NEU activities operate with transparency, efficiency, and international integration.

Delegates exchange views and contribute feedback at the conference

At the conference, delegates and former leaders from various periods offered thoughtful feedback to refine the two drafts, ensuring their feasibility, effectiveness, and broad impact.

This feedback conference was not only an important professional activity but also an opportunity for NEU to reflect on nearly 70 years of institutional development and growth, affirm its standing as a leading national center for education, research, and policy consulting, and set out a strategic vision for a new phase of modern, integrated, and sustainable development.
