Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh, Director of the Center for Distance Education, presents the report reviewing activities in 2025
The year 2025 marked an important step forward as the Center for Distance Education completed quality accreditation of its academic program under Circular 39/2020/TT-BGDĐT, affirming the standardization and reliability of its distance education model.
Admissions yielded positive results, with an enrollment rate of 94.23%, equivalent to 3,753 of the 3,983 admitted applicants. The quality of incoming students continued to improve, as reflected in higher admission cutoff scores across admissions rounds during the year.
Academic activities proceeded steadily, with students sitting a total of 3,761 retake examinations and 1,943 students taking examinations with other cohorts. Graduation internships took place in two major rounds, involving 881 students in June and 823 students in December. The year 2025 also saw vibrant student community activities, which helped strengthen connections and foster a positive learning environment.
For 2026, the Center has set an admissions target of 3,800 places and will continue implementing tasks under the project to improve the quality of distance education, while carrying out plans for graduation eligibility reviews and learning outcome requirements. One highlight of the coming year will be the celebration of the Center for Distance Education’s 20th anniversary, tentatively scheduled for April 2026.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of National Economics University, speaks at the conference
Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong commended the efforts and outstanding achievements of the Center for Distance Education in 2025, notably its successful expansion of international admissions in Japan and completion of the University’s external assessment for accreditation under Circular 39/2020/TT-BGDĐT. These results not only affirmed the reputation of the distance education program but also laid a favorable foundation for the Center to enter a new phase of development.
Outlining directions for 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong emphasized that the University’s consistent priority is to improve educational quality. Accordingly, NEU will not pursue across-the-board increases in enrollment, but will tighten entry standards by raising minimum admission scores and adding priority criteria for applicants with work experience. Alongside controlling entry standards, the University will also strengthen monitoring of the learning process and take firm disciplinary action against violations such as taking examinations on behalf of others or using invalid diplomas and certificates, as demonstrated by decisions to expel students immediately upon discovery of violations.
The President also called on units to strengthen coordination to improve teaching quality and learner support, while encouraging learners to actively participate in scientific research. These are considered key factors in improving the quality of the distance education program, better meeting quality requirements, and accommodating learners’ learning capabilities in the current context of digital transformation.
At the conference, the University’s leadership presented Certificates of Merit to groups and individuals who made many positive contributions to distance education in 2025. These awards provided well-deserved recognition of sustained efforts in management, learner support, learning material development, and professional activities. The honored groups and individuals made important contributions to the Center’s development, creating notable milestones over the past year and providing motivation for National Economics University to continue innovating and improving quality in the next phase.
