The classical concert “Dream Concert Vietnam” has been organized annually by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the New York Classical Music Society (NYCMS) since 2021. The event was launched as part of activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of Vietnam–South Korea diplomatic relations, marking an important development in cultural exchange between the two countries. Since then, the program has become a familiar musical gathering where exquisite classical melodies blend with a spirit of international exchange, offering moments of artistic exhilaration and connecting music lovers.

The year 2025 marks an important milestone as NEU joins the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for the first time to organize the concert in the capital, Hanoi, promising to continue successfully bringing the value of the arts to the community.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, delivers the opening remarks.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu said that NEU was honored to be the second stop on the tour of the classical concert “Dream Concert Vietnam 2025,” a large-scale arts event featuring international artists from the New York Classical Music Society.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu also noted that, with the goal of developing into a multidisciplinary university to support the country’s industrialization and modernization and effectively meet Vietnam’s needs for rapid and sustainable socioeconomic development, NEU has always believed that a comprehensive education must harmoniously blend specialized knowledge with an appreciation of culture and the arts. Co-organizing the program with the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) marks the first time the two universities have collaborated on an arts event with a strong academic character and focus on international exchange. Above all, the event is not merely a concert but also a testament to the strong, close partnership between UEH and NEU.

On behalf of NEU’s academic community, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, thanked UEH for initiating the program and creating a meaningful opportunity for cooperation. He also thanked Dr. Park Young June and the talented artists for bringing classical masterpieces and wonderful sounds to the capital, Hanoi, and especially to the NEU community. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu affirmed that the event was not merely a concert but also a cultural bridge connecting Vietnam and South Korea, inspiring creativity and a love of music among attendees.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Vice President in charge of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, delivers welcome remarks.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of NEU, and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, Chair of the Development Strategy Council of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, present flowers as an expression of NEU’s and UEH’s deep gratitude to the New York Classical Music Society.

The program created an atmosphere of classical music, featuring many classic works by renowned composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Vivaldi. As the program is usually held at the end of the year, participating musicians also performed Christmas symphonic music, bringing peaceful year-end melodies to NEU faculty, staff, and students, as well as other audience members. The concert featured celebrated ensemble works from the world’s classical repertoire, including Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, “Ode to Joy”, Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K.467 and Vivaldi – “Winter”, RV 297.

The international artists and their outstanding performances created a memorable evening of music, sharing the beauty of classical music and offering audiences a fulfilling, emotionally rich artistic experience.
