On the morning of July 11, 2024, the Executive Committee of the National Economics University (NEU) Trade Union organized a model ceremony to admit new trade union members.

Representing the Vietnam National Union of Education at the ceremony were Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An, Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and President of the Vietnam National Union of Education; Dr. Dang Hoang Anh, Vice President; and MSc. Le Thi Mai Oanh, Vice President. Also attending were representatives of the Union’s departments, along with presidents, vice presidents and officers of its affiliated trade unions at the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) administrative office, Vietnam Education Publishing House, universities and academies.

Representing NEU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Member of the Standing Board of the Party Committee and Vice President; and Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the Standing Board of the Vietnam National Union of Education, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the NEU Trade Union. Also attending were members of the Standing Board and Executive Committee of the NEU Trade Union and, notably, the public employees and workers being admitted to the Vietnam Trade Union.

The admission ceremony was held in accordance with the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union and guidance from the Vietnam National Union of Education Workers on conducting an intensive month-long campaign to admit members, establish grassroots Trade Unions, and recommend outstanding Trade Union members to the Party, with tangible achievements to mark the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929–July 28, 2024). Recently, the Executive Committee of the National Economics University (NEU) Trade Union has actively led and organized numerous activities, fostering an enthusiastic spirit of emulation throughout the University in the lead-up to the anniversary, while actively raising awareness and encouraging employees to join the Trade Union. On this occasion, the NEU Trade Union encouraged 10 public employees and workers from the University’s Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality and Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to join the Trade Union.

Presenting admission Decisions to the 10 trade union members and outlining their duties, Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the Standing Board of the Vietnam National Union of Education and President of the NEU Trade Union, congratulated the 10 new members admitted by the NEU Trade Union at the day’s solemn ceremony in the presence of distinguished delegates and guests. He noted that this was an honor and a source of pride not only for the new members but also for the Executive Committee of the NEU Trade Union. From that day forward, as trade union members, they were to fulfill the duties stipulated in Article 2 of the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union adopted at its 12th Congress.

Speaking to accept his duties, Tran Hung, a new trade union member, said: “Recently, the Executive Committees of the trade union branches of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality and the Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, together with the Executive Committee of the NEU Trade Union, organized awareness-raising and study sessions for the 10 of us, public employees and workers, on the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union and selected provisions of the Labor Law and the Trade Union Law. Through these sessions, we came to understand the position, role, duties and powers of the Vietnam Trade Union and its members, as well as benefits and policies relating to workers. We voluntarily applied to join the Vietnam Trade Union, and today, the 10 of us are deeply honored that the Executive Committee of the NEU Trade Union has organized this ceremony to admit us to the Vietnam Trade Union. As trade union members, we pledge to strive to improve our professional qualifications, political knowledge and work skills, foster solidarity, work enthusiastically and fulfill all assigned duties with excellence, contributing to the successful implementation of the University’s work plan.
