Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, delivers the opening remarks.

In his opening remarks at Career and Employment Week – NEU Career Week 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, noted that employment always attracts considerable attention. Every student hopes to find a job that meets their aspirations after graduating from university, but doing so is by no means simple.

NEU has organized numerous activities to help students meet and engage with employers, enabling them to seek employment opportunities before graduation. Among these, Career and Employment Week is an annual event that the University has held for many years to connect the University, students and businesses, strengthening the alignment between the University’s education and society’s needs. It also promotes connections to internship, part-time and full-time employment opportunities and brings direct recruitment activities from the business community to students and the University.

Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hieu also emphasized that businesses’ recruitment needs are growing as the number of businesses increases. Not only domestic businesses but also foreign corporations have substantial recruitment needs. However, expectations for workforce quality are also rising. This requires the University to adapt flexibly and promptly while forging closer ties with businesses to better understand their requirements and develop educational strategies aligned with practical needs. Whereas the University previously focused only on broad specializations, it is now expanding its range of specializations to include more narrowly focused fields, so that graduates have not only strong knowledge but also the skills suited to specific job positions.

“To provide the country with a quality workforce, NEU plans to increase investment in student education. I hope businesses will actively collaborate with the University to invest more substantially in education and define curricula, thereby developing a quality workforce aligned with the trends and demands of the era of globalization,” emphasized Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hieu.

With each edition, Career and Employment Week – NEU Career Week records impressive numbers of attendees and participating businesses. This year, the program is expected to reach nearly 15,000 second-, third- and fourth-year students in economics, management and business administration at universities across the city, along with nearly 40 major businesses.
Under the theme “A Workforce Adaptable to Globalization,” the program promises to offer useful information and fresh, distinctive perspectives on developing and harnessing ways of thinking to shape leaders in an era of global integration.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President, and leadership representatives from University units present recognition plaques and flowers to thank participating businesses and organizations.

A particular highlight of the program is the in-person recruitment counseling at business booths on March 24, during NEU Career Expo, the program’s main event. Here, students will be able to listen, exchange ideas and have their questions answered, gaining a more accurate understanding of employment trends and businesses’ recruitment needs to identify the fields best suited to them.

The Organizing Committee is also arranging recruitment rooms to directly connect students with employment opportunities. In addition, free CV counseling and review will give students concrete feedback to improve this important skill.
