In anticipation of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, on the morning of November 8, 2024, the 32nd PhD cohort of National Economics University (NEU) held a gathering themed “Reunion and Connection” in a warm and deeply moving atmosphere, with a range of activities to revisit memories and express gratitude to the teachers who had guided them throughout their research and studies.

Representing the University’s leadership at the event were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU; Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Chair of the Science and Training Council; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thanh Huong, Vice Dean in charge of the Institute of Postgraduate Education. Also attending were leadership representatives from schools, departments, faculties, institutes, and centers, along with former PhD candidates from the 32nd cohort.
The gathering, themed “Reunion and Connection,” aimed to bring together and strengthen connections among members of the 32nd PhD cohort, enabling them to share experiences and develop in their professional fields, academic pursuits, and individual careers. This was also the cohort’s first collective activity since 83 of its 96 PhD candidates, recognized under the University’s Decision in October 2011, completed their studies and successfully defended their doctoral dissertations.

On behalf of the 32nd PhD cohort, Dr. Phan Van Hung expressed the cohort’s gratitude and affection to the University’s leaders, unit leaders, and teachers who had taught, supported, and created favorable conditions for its members to study, conduct research, and achieve the goals they had set for their doctoral studies. Thirteen years after beginning their doctoral studies, 83 of the cohort’s 96 members, or 86.5%, had completed their doctoral dissertation defenses, including nearly 10 doctoral degree holders who had been awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
On behalf of the 32nd PhD cohort, Dr. Phan Van Hung extended congratulations to all University faculty and staff on Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, November 20, and expressed gratitude to the generations of University faculty, staff, and students who had set aside their studies to defend the homeland.
At the gathering, the 32nd PhD cohort awarded three scholarships totaling VND 30 million to students facing difficult circumstances who had made significant efforts in their studies and scientific research. The scholarships aimed to support and encourage their commitment to learning, scientific research, and overcoming difficulties, contributing to the University’s efforts to care for all students and provide the best possible conditions for them to complete their studies.
