On September 6, 2026, the National Economics University held the Inauguration Ceremony for the 5th cohort in the Finance and Management major under the regular International Bachelor’s Program, a collaboration between the National Economics University and La Trobe University (Australia) for 200 new students.

Prof. Dr. Hoàng Xuân Quế – Director of the Institute of Banking and Finance; along with representatives from various Schools, Departments, Faculties, Institutes, Centers; former university leaders; representatives from agencies and organizations; and a team of lecturers, staff, students from various cohorts, esteemed parents, and especially the participation of 200 new students of the 5th cohort of the program.

The regular international joint academic program between the National Economics University and La Trobe University (NEU LATROBE) is built on a modern foundation, taught entirely in English, with a faculty of professors, associate professors, and doctors trained in advanced countries and possessing many years of experience.

Students study in a dynamic, friendly environment, with modern facilities and equipment supporting education and research. The NEU LATROBE program acts as a knowledge incubator, encouraging students to explore and develop their potential to conquer the pinnacles of science, in line with the motto: “NEU LATROBE: Talent Incubator – Affirming Class.”

Providing Vietnamese Students with Opportunities to Access Advanced Global Education

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Director of the National Economics University, extended congratulations to 200 new students – the outstanding individuals who have excelled in the admissions process to officially become members of the NEU LATROBE community.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, this joint program was officially launched by the two universities in 2022. Over the past four years, the National Economics University and La Trobe University have cultivated a strong collaborative relationship, founded on trust, sharing, and a strong commitment to a common goal: providing Vietnamese students with opportunities to access advanced global education, harmoniously combining the modern knowledge, science, and technology of Australia with the academic depth and prestige of the National Economics University. The success of the previous four cohorts is a clear testament to these relentless efforts.

Addressing the new students of the 5th cohort, the Director of the National Economics University expressed confidence that the upcoming years will be the most memorable period in their lives.

“Here, you will not only acquire knowledge and hone skills but also cultivate resilience, nurture aspirations, and expand your global perspective. After graduation, I believe you will confidently stride forward, becoming excellent financial experts, talented managers, business leaders, or pioneering entrepreneurs with a solid foundation, ready to contribute to the country’s development and international integration,” shared Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho.

Emphasizing the words of the illustrious scientist Thomas Edison: “In my success, 99% is perspiration and tears, only 1% is intelligence,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho urged the new students to persevere, strive, and not fear failure, as diligence and persistence are the keys to success. He also hoped they would embark on this new journey with faith, enthusiasm, and a desire to rise.

At the ceremony, the Western Hanoi Branch of the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam awarded 6 scholarships totaling 100 million VND to new students with outstanding results in the admissions process.

These students achieved the highest selection results in the program across all three criteria: IELTS scores from 7.5 to 8.0; a grade 12 average above 9.0; and an impressive essay. The valedictorian of the 5th NEU LATROBE cohort is Nguyen Doan Bao Linh, with outstanding academic achievements, an IELTS score of 8.0, and the highest admissions results in the program.

Also at the ceremony, the Institute of Banking and Finance awarded prizes worth 100 million VND to 3 students with the best academic results from cohorts 2, 3, and 4, and 24 students with the best results in various subjects, as well as 7 students who made positive contributions to Union, Association, and movement activities. This is a recognition, encouragement, and support for them on their journey to conquer the endless knowledge of humanity.

Opportunity to Obtain an Internationally Recognized Degree Ranked in the Top 1% Worldwide

According to the National Economics University, a distinctive feature of the program is that students can choose to complete all three years of study at the National Economics University or study for two years at the National Economics University and transfer to Australia for one year.

Upon enrollment, students are provided with an account and enjoy all the benefits of regular students at La Trobe University: access to the university’s library and academic databases, and regular support and guidance from La Trobe University staff as well as the program team at the National Economics University.

In addition, students have all the benefits of National Economics University students, such as being issued a National Economics University student account, participating in Youth Union and Student Union activities, Party development, clubs, and using the library and other facilities available to students at the National Economics University.

If transferring to Australia for the third year, students have the opportunity to choose additional majors beyond Finance and Management. After graduation, students can apply for Master’s level studies with many advantages such as admission procedures, scholarships, accommodation, etc. Upon graduation, they will be considered by the Australian Government for a 2-year Working Visa in the country.

This year’s successful candidates all have strong academic abilities and good English proficiency, with some students achieving IELTS scores of 8.0, 7.5, and 7.0. This will be a very favorable condition for students to study and live in an international environment.

After graduation, students will receive a Bachelor of Business degree with a major in Finance and Management awarded by La Trobe University, recognized globally. With this degree, they are eligible to apply for jobs in any country and open up career advancement paths in major domestic and multinational corporations worldwide.

Even in Vietnam, their job application scope is very extensive: the banking system, financial agencies such as the Ministry of Finance, Department of Finance, State Treasury agencies, Tax agencies, State Securities Commission, insurance agencies, various ministries and government levels, educational institutions, schools, securities companies, fintech companies, auditing firms, insurance companies, and all other types of enterprises.
