He emphasized: “Although Vietnamese society has gone through many different stages of historical development, the teaching profession has always been honored at every stage. This demonstrates the Vietnamese people’s respect for intellect and thirst for knowledge. Each November 20, we reflect together on NEU’s journey of establishment and development. Throughout that journey, our teachers have always embodied integrity, intellectual excellence, and great aspirations, quietly but persistently sowing each seed of knowledge and contributing to the development of the University and the country.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong reviewed notable achievements in 2025, a pivotal year for NEU’s development strategy for 2026–2030. Admissions exceeded targets across all modes of study. Notably, this was the first year that NEU recruited students for and successfully delivered its NEU E-Learning distance education academic program in Japan. NEU also introduced two new undergraduate majors, bringing the total number of undergraduate academic programs to 89, while five graduate programs are being developed to meet societal needs.
Quality assurance efforts continued to make an impact, with 12 programs accredited against domestic standards and 21 programs preparing for evaluation by FIBAA, bringing the proportion of accredited programs to nearly 60%. NEU maintained its position in the 301–400 band of the THE Impact Rankings, demonstrating its clear contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The qualifications of the teaching faculty continued to improve, with nearly 70% holding doctoral degrees and most able to work in English in international academic environments. In 2025, two more University educators were recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor and 15 for the title of associate professor, demonstrating the strong development of its academic faculty.
In science and technology, NEU continued to lead economics universities with 330 ISI/Scopus articles, with Q1 articles accounting for nearly 40% of those with lecturers as lead authors. The University continued to affirm its role as a trusted source of policy advice for the Party, the State, and ministries and sectors, further consolidating its leading position in research and innovation…
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong affirmed that these achievements reflected the collective efforts, solidarity, and dedication of the University’s staff. As artificial intelligence, big data, and the digital economy reshape higher education, each lecturer is expected to continue innovating teaching methods, strengthen applied research, and build an open academic environment, helping develop a workforce with creative thinking and strong adaptability.
NEU’s approaching 70th anniversary in 2026 will be a special milestone for reflecting on its development, honoring its achievements, and looking toward greater goals in a new era. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong called on the University’s teaching community, generations of lecturers, students, and alumni to join together in preparing for the 70th anniversary celebration, with the aim of creating a milestone worthy of NEU’s traditions—not merely an event, but a turning point in the University’s development.
On behalf of the University leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong expressed deep gratitude to generations of educators who have devoted themselves and contributed to NEU’s development, as well as to partners, alumni, and news and media agencies that have consistently supported the University over the years. He wished the University’s teachers, faculty and staff, learners, and students a meaningful Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, President of NEU, also affirmed the University’s commitment to continuing to invest in human resource development, building an innovation ecosystem, vigorously advancing digital transformation, increasing its contributions to the country’s sustainable development, and working together to build NEU into a pioneering university that leads and serves the nation’s sustainable development.
