Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Que, Dean of the School of Banking and Finance and Head of the La Trobe – NEU Program Management Board, delivers remarks

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Que, Dean of the School of Banking and Finance and Head of the La Trobe – NEU Program Management Board, warmly welcomed parents and students to La Trobe – NEU Open Day. He emphasized that the event was not only an occasion for parents and students to learn about the international joint program between NEU and La Trobe University (Australia), but also an opportunity for students to experience NEU’s dynamic learning environment.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Que also noted that NEU is currently the only institution in Vietnam partnering with La Trobe University to offer an entirely locally delivered full-time undergraduate program in Finance and Management. Some other institutions partner with La Trobe University through 1+2 or 2+1 transfer arrangements, or offer college-level programs followed by transfer programs leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Que affirmed that, as a leading university and a key institution for economics, management, and business administration in Vietnam, with modern facilities and a professional environment, NEU hopes to develop this joint program into a source of high-quality graduates not only for Vietnam but also for the world. With support from La Trobe University, one of Australia’s long-established and reputable public universities, ranked among the top 1% of universities worldwide, the program aims to meet international standards and the increasingly demanding requirements of the labor market.

“La Trobe – NEU is not only a quality academic choice, but also a comprehensive journey connecting learners with international knowledge, an advanced educational environment, and essential skills in an era of integration. We are proud to see generations of students mature, develop confidence, and become ready to take on their roles as global citizens in the future,” emphasized Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Que.

Dr. Le Van Chi, lecturer and member of the Program Management Board, presents an overview of the La Trobe – NEU program

At the event, Dr. Le Van Chi, on behalf of the Program Management Board, presented an overview of the La Trobe – NEU program, covering its study pathways, faculty, learning environment that meets international standards, transfer opportunities, and employment prospects after graduation. The program’s key strengths attracted considerable interest from the many parents and students considering an international education. The Program Management Board also provided clear and open answers to questions about tuition fees, scholarships, admissions requirements, opportunities to transfer to Australia, and other related matters.

The Program Management Board answers questions from parents and students

The joint bachelor’s program in Finance and Management between NEU and La Trobe University focuses on educating students, equipping them with knowledge and modern management skills, and developing advanced ways of thinking aligned with international management and business approaches. This comprehensive foundation of knowledge and skills helps students become proactive and highly adaptable to change, always ready to create and innovate on a solid foundation of values and culture, with a view to sustainable development.

The program regularly organizes exchanges and talks with experts in specific professional fields and, in particular, visits and field studies at businesses or in business environments to help students connect theory with practical applications.

All teaching staff are international lecturers or leading lecturers from NEU. Instruction is delivered in English and meets the standards required by La Trobe University.

The program lasts three years for applicants with an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, or 3.5–4 years for applicants who have not yet met the IELTS 6.0 English proficiency requirement.

Students may study all three years at NEU, or study for two years at NEU and transfer to Australia for one year to earn a bachelor’s degree awarded by La Trobe University. Students may then continue their studies for one additional year to earn a master’s degree at La Trobe University.

In particular, when studying in Australia, students may choose certain majors other than Finance and Management. After graduation, students are also granted a two-year Working Visa in Australia by the Australian Government.

Tuition fees are nearly VND 10 million per month, equivalent to VND 298 million for the entire three-year program (tuition is VND 372 million for three years, with a 20% scholarship awarded by La Trobe University deducted directly from tuition); VND 323 million for the 3.5-year program; and VND 348 million for the four-year program (for students who do not yet have an IELTS score of 6.0).
