Hello Vietnam – International Students “Compete” in Vietnamese at NEU
Vietnamese has become a bridge connecting international students at the National Economics University during the Vietnamese language proficiency test, part of the “NEU International Students Program 2026” series of activities. Beyond merely assessing language skills, this event also provides a space for international students to interact, explore Vietnamese culture, and showcase their confidence through lively and engaging competitions.
A “Vietnam” Narrated in Many Languages
Over 60 international students from Laos, Cambodia, China, and South Korea participated in the Vietnamese language entrance test at the National Economics University. These students experienced a day full of unforgettable memories. This was not merely a language proficiency test, but a milestone for each individual, marking their relentless efforts in their journey to conquer knowledge at the National Economics University. Vietnamese serves as a gateway, guiding them to the knowledge, culture, and people of Vietnam.

The participation of international students from various countries has created a diverse picture of the Vietnamese experience. Each student has a different journey to Vietnam, but Vietnamese has become a common point that helps them connect with the community and explore life here.
This is also an opportunity for international students to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam through the very language they are learning. Through each question and interaction, they have the chance to learn more about the distinctive features of Vietnamese culture, etiquette, daily life, as well as familiar images of the country and its people.

For NEU, this activity also contributes to building a multicultural, open, and integrated university environment where Vietnamese and international students can study, interact, and share different cultural values.
From the First Vietnamese Words to the Journey of Integration at NEU
For many international students, Vietnamese is a new language with its own unique characteristics in tones, pronunciation, and word usage. Confidently using Vietnamese in academic and communicative settings is thus a journey that requires initiative and effort.
During the program, contestants participated in various activities related to Vietnamese language and culture, ranging from Vietnamese language proficiency, understanding of life, culture, and history, to engaging in everyday communication scenarios.
The Vietnamese language proficiency test thus serves not only as an assessment of entry-level competence but also as an opportunity for international students to familiarize themselves, connect, and begin their integration journey at NEU.
Professional and Objective in Organizational Work
The exam was prepared and graded by the Faculty of Foreign Languages for Economics, covering four skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The exam supervision and interviews were jointly organized by the Faculty of Foreign Languages for Economics, the Graduate Training Institute, and the International Collaboration Department, contributing to the objectivity, transparency, and professionalism of the examination.

In addition to testing Listening, Reading, and Writing skills, the Speaking test provided many interesting moments as international students directly demonstrated their Vietnamese communication abilities. Responses with unique accents and expressions from each country created a friendly and open atmosphere between the international students and the examiners.
Enthusiastic Companionship
Accompanying the new international students throughout the examination were volunteers from the International Collaboration Department – true NEUers, who enthusiastically guided, encouraged, and energized the students.
The support from NEU friends contributed to creating a friendly atmosphere, reducing the pressure of the examination and making it a memorable experience as students familiarized themselves with the new environment.
