On the afternoon of August 27, 2024, an interagency inspection team from the Hai Ba Trung District People’s Committee visited National Economics University (NEU) to inspect school health services, disease prevention and control, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, food safety, and tobacco harm prevention.

The inspection team included Cao Thi Hoa, Head of the Hai Ba Trung District Department of Health; Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, President of the Hai Ba Trung District Labor Federation; Vu Thi Thu Hang, Vice Chair of the Dong Tam Ward People’s Committee; physician Nguyen Minh Hue, Head of the Dong Tam Ward Medical Station; Dang Thi Bich Thuy, representing the Hai Ba Trung District Police; and other staff members of the team. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, and representatives of the leadership of the University’s departments, faculties, institutes, centers, and relevant units.

At the meeting, the inspection team heard representatives of the leadership of relevant units present summary reports on school health activities: HIV/AIDS prevention and control; health care and initial medical examination and treatment; environmental sanitation; food hygiene and safety in kitchens and canteens; and prevention of tobacco-related harm and HIV/AIDS, among other activities. In particular, the University has implemented dengue fever prevention and control measures rigorously and effectively, with no dengue cases recorded to date.

In 2024, NEU also put electronic health record management software into operation for officials, public employees, and workers, and created a Youth and Adolescent Health fan page for NEU students.

At the conclusion of the inspection, Cao Thi Hoa, Head of the Hai Ba Trung District Department of Health, spoke on behalf of the inspection team and highly commended all of NEU’s activities. The team also offered suggestions to help the University make further improvements.

Acknowledging the inspection team’s feedback and answering its questions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, thanked the team for its dedication and sense of responsibility. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hieu also agreed with the team’s conclusions and would develop a specific plan to build on the University’s strengths and address its limitations, ensuring a timely response to disease prevention and control needs and improving the quality of health care services for faculty, staff, and students at NEU.
