Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Center for Distance Education (2006–2026)

On June 13, 2026, National Economics University (NEU) will hold a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Center for Distance Education (2006–2026), marking two decades of establishment and development of one of the pioneering units in innovating educational methods, contributing to the realization of the goal of expanding access to higher education for learners across the country and abroad.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished guests from external organizations, including Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Khanh Ly, Head of the Educational Security Division under the Internal Political Security Department of Hanoi City Police; Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Director of AUM Vietnam Training Services Consultancy Joint Stock Company; Mr. Le The Anh, General Director of Dong Phuong Multimodal Training Joint Stock Company; Ms. Tran Thu Trang, Head of Admissions for Northern Vietnam at Tokyo Sanritsu Academy (Japan); and Colonel Pham Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the National Defense and Security Education Center of the Hanoi Capital Command Military School.

In his speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh – Director of the Center for Distance Education affirmed that 20 years is a particularly significant milestone, recognizing the relentless efforts of generations of leaders, staff, faculty members, and workers who have contributed to building and developing the Center into one of the reputable distance education units in Vietnam’s higher education system. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh expressed deep gratitude to the generations of University leaders, Center leaders over the years, especially Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thuong – the former President, the first Director of the Center for Distance Education, along with the collectives and individuals who laid the foundation and accompanied the unit throughout its development journey.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh, from its modest beginnings, the Center has now trained and nurtured tens of thousands of learners nationwide and abroad. Many graduates have taken on important positions in government agencies, businesses, and organizations across various fields. The achievements not only affirm the quality and reputation of the Center but also contribute positively to the overall development of National Economics University.

Looking towards future development, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh believes that the robust growth of digital transformation and artificial intelligence is creating numerous new opportunities for higher education in general and distance learning in particular. This serves both as a motivation and a requirement for educational institutions to continuously innovate their training models, enhancing the quality and learning experience for students. Building on the foundation established over the past 20 years, the Center will continue to promote innovation, apply digital technology and artificial intelligence in training management, develop learning materials, enhance learner experience, and build a modern digital learning ecosystem to meet the lifelong learning needs of society.

In his congratulatory speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong – Vice President acknowledged and commended the achievements that the Center for Distance Learning has accomplished over its 20 years of establishment and development. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong affirmed that the Center’s results not only expand learning opportunities for students nationwide but also make significant contributions to the innovation of training methods and the implementation of the digital transformation strategy of National Economics University.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, in the context of higher education undergoing significant changes under the impact of digital technology and artificial intelligence, distance learning increasingly asserts its important role in meeting society’s lifelong learning needs. This is also a field with great potential for National Economics University to continue leveraging its strengths and expanding its influence in the future.

The Vice President expressed confidence that, with the foundation built over two decades and a dedicated and experienced team of staff, the Center for Distance Learning will continue to maintain its pioneering role in innovating training methods, contributing positively to the goal of establishing the National Economics University as a leading research-oriented university in Asia in the fields of economics, management, and business administration.

On this occasion, the Center for Distance Learning was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in the process of building and developing on the occasion of its 20th anniversary (2006–2026). This is a meaningful recognition of the persistent efforts of the Center’s collective over the past 20 years of establishment and development.

Also at the ceremony, the Center for Distance Learning officially launched the “E-NEU Student Community,” marking a new milestone in the journey of building and developing a network of students and alumni both domestically and internationally, creating an environment for exchange, sharing professional experiences, collaboration, and mutual support, continuing to spread the values of National Economics University’s Distance Learning program.
