Career and Employment Week – NEU Career Week 2024 Supports Students on Their Career Paths

The Center for Counseling, Career Guidance and Employment recently organized Career and Employment Week 2024, featuring a range of activities to give students further insights into the recruitment market.

Career and Employment Week took place from March 18 to 31 under the theme “A Workforce Adaptable to Globalization,” helping students understand new recruitment trends among businesses as Vietnam maintains an open economy and integrates deeply into the global economic system. In particular, Vietnam recently upgraded its relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships with two major powers, the United States and Japan, and most recently with Australia, bringing the total number of countries with Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships with Vietnam to seven.

The opening ceremony for Career and Employment Week was held on March 22 at the Cultural Center Auditorium. Attending were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of National Economics University (NEU), representatives of the leadership of the University’s departments, faculties and institutes, and the organizing committee for Career and Employment Week 2024. Leadership representatives from the 37 businesses participating in NEU Career Week 2024 also attended.

To officially open Career and Employment Week 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu and representatives of the organizing committee and participating businesses performed a “color-pouring” ceremony to fill the characters NCW2024. The ceremony symbolized water flowing downward in constant motion, flexibly taking the shape of any container. For students attending Career and Employment Week, the image of flowing water represented adaptation to trends and innovation in response to globalization.

The centerpiece of Career and Employment Week was the recruitment fair, NEU Career Expo, held on March 24 in the A2 garden on campus, where students seeking employment could visit booths to engage directly with recruiting businesses.

A lively atmosphere at the business booths, which attracted more than 2,000 students throughout the main fair day.

In particular, many businesses offered positions exclusively for NEU students for direct recruitment at the main fair. In total, nearly 80 jobs with more than 500 vacancies were available, concentrated in banking, finance, insurance and human resources. These opportunities attracted considerable student interest, with many bringing their CVs to apply and take part in interviews with human resources teams.

The Career and Employment Week organizing committee also offered students seminars on the following topics: “Code your ability: Shaping a Leader’s Mindset”; “Local to Global – Careers Beyond Borders”; “Which Path After Graduation?”; and “The 2023 Recruitment Market Report and Recruitment Demand in 2024.” Featuring speakers who are leaders of major businesses, these seminars shared practical, objective perspectives from professionals with expertise and experience to help students identify appropriate directions for their studies and personal development.

One highlight of this year’s Career and Employment Week was the Postgraduate Programs Information Fair, which provided students with further information about academic programs, scholarships and other aspects of master’s programs. The fair featured NEU master’s programs offered by the Institute of Postgraduate Education, the Institute of International Education and the School of Business Administration, as well as international universities from the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Canada, Germany and China. The fair also attracted strong student interest and attendance, reflecting students’ growing demand for postgraduate study in Vietnam and abroad after graduation.

We look forward to welcoming students and businesses back to Career and Employment Week 2025, with a different theme and even greater meaningful benefits.
