On this day 61 years ago, May 18, 1963, at the first Congress of the Vietnam Association for the Dissemination of Science and Technology—an event of historical significance for the science and technology sector—President Ho Chi Minh said: “Science must originate from production and return to serve production and the people, in order to raise labor productivity and continually improve people’s lives.” His words also embody the goals and mission that the Party and State have set for the nation’s science and technology.

Fifty years after President Ho Chi Minh’s declaration on the mission of Vietnam’s science and technology, May 18 was officially designated as the annual Science and Technology Day for society and the community to recognize and honor the creative work and contributions of the science and technology workforce.

At the gathering, on behalf of the Party Committee and the NEU Board of Presidents, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong commended and recognized the achievements of faculty, staff, and students across the University in advancing science and technology at NEU. The President also highly valued the contributions and dedication of generations of staff at the Department of Research Management to the University’s scientific research activities in recent years. He expressed his hope that the Department of Research Management would continue to build on its strengths, inspire faculty, staff, and students and foster their passion for creativity in science and technology, and connect the scientific community within and beyond the University. He also hoped that these efforts would gradually enable the University’s scientific and technological research activities to demonstrate their capabilities, establish their standing, and reach new heights.
