Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, delivers remarks.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, shared that throughout nearly 70 years of development, NEU has always taken pride in nurturing passion, encouraging creative ideas, and fostering learners’ potential and ability to establish themselves. The University has steadily established its standing and reputation for providing the country with skilled managers, experts, and scientists in economics and business administration.
According to Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, this year’s graduating class is particularly special, having faced a memorable challenge from their very first days at the University in September 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the country’s fight against the pandemic, they faced many difficulties, including temporary interruptions to their studies and online learning. Yet they all overcame these difficulties and challenges, adapting to the circumstances and demanding conditions.
“You can take pride in the journey you have traveled, a journey filled not only with unforgettable memories of your youth but also with milestones in your growth. Your enthusiasm, passion, and creativity have contributed to the values of NEU,” he said. He also affirmed that graduation is not an ending but a beginning that marks their maturity, a transition toward pursuing new dreams together.
The President noted that among the 3,690 new bachelor’s degree graduates receiving their degrees today were 50 top graduates in their disciplines, 1,420 graduates with highest distinction, and more than 600 graduates of English-taught programs. These included graduates of Accounting and Auditing programs integrating the prestigious international professional qualification ICAEW CFAB (Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business), and graduates of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program integrating the international certification AGKN. Each program has made its own distinct mark. He expressed confidence that, with their determination to learn and the systematic knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level, the new graduates would continue to seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and achieve new successes, becoming talented entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders in sectors, localities, corporations, and sociopolitical organizations across the country. “After the graduation ceremony, the 3,690 new graduates will officially become members of the NEU alumni network—the largest university alumni network in Vietnam today. This is not simply a connection among friends, but also a connection of ideas and a means of sharing opportunities for collaboration and development,” Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong emphasized.
Dr. Le Anh Duc, Deputy Head in charge of the Department of Academic Affairs, announces the Decision recognizing graduation.
MSc. Nguyen Hoang Ha, Head of the Department of Political Affairs and Student Management, announces the Decision on commendations and master’s scholarships for the new graduates.
Of the 3,690 students graduating from NEU this year, 1,420 graduated with highest distinction (38.5%) and 1,428 graduated with distinction (38.7%). The proportion graduating with distinction or highest distinction reached 77.2%.
The 50 top graduates in their specializations achieved cumulative GPAs ranging from 3.68 to 4.0, graduating with highest distinction. For the first time, NEU had as many as four students achieve a GPA of 4.0/4.0: Nguyen Hoang Duong (International Business), Hoang Mai Huong (Auditing), Nguyen Khanh Linh (International Economics), and Mai Xuan Bach (Data Science in Economics and Business).
University leaders present certificates of merit and flowers to the top graduates in each specialization.

New graduate Nguyen Da Thu Huong, a student in Public Relations Class 62, Faculty of Marketing, delivers remarks and presents flowers in gratitude to faculty members.
Speaking on behalf of the new graduates, Nguyen Da Thu Huong, a student in Public Relations Class 62, Faculty of Marketing, shared that four years of study at NEU had given her and her peers sufficient opportunities to build their knowledge, develop their skills, and confidently enter the world of work.
Thu Huong recalled that during their first years at the University, the COVID-19 pandemic left students with few opportunities to interact directly with their teachers, making learning more challenging than ever. Yet lively lectures and online group activities helped her and her peers find their studies engaging and effective. “This invaluable preparation has made us ready to adapt and achieve the next goals in our lives.”
“At NEU, alongside classroom learning, scientific research has also become a passion, giving me opportunities to explore specialized knowledge in depth and breadth and develop habits of independent learning and research. In addition, scientific research serves as a stepping stone for me to undertake many creative projects in the future and contribute positively to society’s sustainable development.” “NEU is truly a second home, a place that holds beautiful memories of a vibrant youth. After four years of growing at NEU, we have come to appreciate more deeply President Ho Chi Minh’s advice during his visit to the University in 1961: ‘To manage the economy well, one must study. Only by studying well can we manage the economy well, make the people prosperous and the country strong, care for society and people’s lives, and move the country forward,’” Thu Huong said.
During the program, the new graduates performed a gesture of gratitude, placing their hands over their hearts and bowing their heads to thank their teachers and acknowledge their parents’ hard work and sacrifices for them.
The road ahead will offer many new opportunities and challenges, but remember that whatever you do and wherever you are, you will always be members of NEU. This University and your teachers will always offer you a welcoming home, with open arms to welcome you back to study, share, and collaborate. Your success today is also a testament to your parents’ success in raising you. Your degrees are a deeply meaningful gift to your parents during the Vu Lan season of filial gratitude, honoring those who have always made sacrifices and given you the very best to support you in achieving today’s success.
Parents attending their children’s graduation ceremony must also be filled with emotion and anticipation as they await the day their children reach maturity. Seeing their children receive their university degrees on this very stage will surely bring tears of joy, satisfaction, and pride…
