Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, delivers remarks
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, noted that NEU was the first higher education institution in Vietnam to be tasked with providing postgraduate education, in 1977.
Over the past 47 years, the University has educated managers and entrepreneurs with advanced postgraduate degrees who have made important contributions to the country’s socioeconomic development. NEU has consistently affirmed its position as a leading university in its field, providing high-quality human resources for the entire country.
Addressing the new students, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong said that the opening ceremony marked an important milestone in each student’s pursuit of knowledge. The new students could take pride in their journey so far, having passed a difficult examination and outperformed many talented candidates to become students at NEU.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong emphasized that many difficulties and challenges lay ahead for the new students. They were beginning their studies at a time when technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), offered humanity many opportunities while also creating numerous challenges. All businesses and organizations were determining how they would operate in the future amid the rapid development of AI and digital technology. The world was advancing but was also full of challenges and pressures, making it difficult to choose the right path.
As new students at NEU, over the next two years they would have access to the latest and most essential knowledge and skills, dedicated faculty, the best learning conditions, and data resources among the foremost available at universities specializing in economics and business. They would have opportunities to explore many different databases, both domestic and foreign. “However, whether all these conditions translate into your own capabilities and skills depends almost entirely on each individual’s efforts. Your teachers are here to support you, but you will decide how you learn,” Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong said.
The President of NEU expressed confidence that, with perseverance in their studies and personal determination, the new students would continue to seize opportunities and overcome every challenge to achieve new successes and become talented entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders in industries, localities, and businesses.
