On June 5, 2026, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training held a Conference to announce the Appointment Decisions for leaders of higher education institutions and vocational education institutions. Party Secretary, Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son presided over the Conference.

Conference Overview

Attending the Conference, representing the National Economics University were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho – Party Secretary, Rector of the University; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice Rector of the University.

The Conference was organized after the Ministry had substantially completed the reorganization of leadership structures at affiliated higher education and vocational education institutions, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, the Higher Education Law, the Vocational Education Law, and related regulations.

In implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the Higher Education Law 2025, the Vocational Education Law 2025, and related regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training has mobilized a comprehensive effort across the entire system, focusing on leadership, direction, and rigorous implementation of the task of reorganizing the leadership teams of affiliated educational institutions, ensuring unity between Party building and governance, and administration in educational institutions.

The Minister of Education and Training has issued 153 personnel decisions, including 51 decisions for heads and 102 decisions for deputy heads of educational institutions. For the National Economics University, the Ministry has issued decisions to reorganize the University’s Board of Directors, appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho as Rector; appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu as Vice Rectors.

The reorganization of the model where the Party Secretary is also the head of the educational institution is an important policy aimed at strengthening the comprehensive leadership role of the Party organization, ensuring unity between the Party’s leadership work and governance activities. Initial implementation has shown positive changes in leadership, direction, enhancing the responsibilities of the Party committee, Party organization, and the head, while ensuring synchronization, smoothness, and efficiency in governance and task execution.
