Also at the training session, Nguyen Huu Hieu, CEO of FiinGroup, noted that FiinGroup maintains databases on macroeconomics and securities, as well as in-depth research on sectors such as cold storage, packaging, cement, water supply and drainage, banking, and consumer finance. With its specialized databases, FiinGroup is fully capable of supporting surveys for the various research needs of NEU’s faculty and staff. Nguyen Huu Hieu affirmed that the training session was an extremely important activity for bringing data to users and identifying ways to make effective use of FiinGroup’s databases.

The session built on the successful use of economic, financial and macroeconomic datasets and securities analysis datasets in research, teaching and learning under the component project “Developing a Shared Electronic Library for Higher Education Institutions in Vietnam,” part of the World Bank-funded Support for Autonomous Higher Education Project. This success is demonstrated by the quality of ministerial- and provincial-level research papers produced by lecturers and students at NEU, as well as at the 45 universities and academies participating in the SAHEP project, through their use of FiinGroup/FiinRatings datasets.

The main purpose of the training session was to introduce ways to use data in empirical research and business valuation analysis and provide training and guidance on these applications, with the aim of improving the quality of lecturers’ teaching and research and enabling students to apply data in practical investment experiences.
