Based on this orientation, the research group consisting of lecturers from the School of Technology focused on building and completing the system in a short time, launching and implementing it within the year 2026.

According to Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh, scientific research is a process that requires perseverance, seriousness, and significant time and effort investment. From searching for materials, building research overviews, designing methods, collecting and analyzing data to writing, publishing results, and seeking funding, each stage requires appropriate tools and information sources. However, the current reality shows that research data is still scattered, and support tools operate relatively independently, lacking a common platform capable of connecting resources and comprehensively supporting the research process.

Originating from this practical requirement, the AI-Based Scientific Research Support System was developed with 12 tools covering six stages in the research process, from problem exploration, literature review, research design, data collection and analysis to writing, publishing results, and seeking funding. Integrating these tools on a single platform facilitates researchers in organizing, managing, and implementing research tasks more conveniently.

One of the notable features of the system is the central AI assistant, which can connect tools with the research context of each user. Through personal accounts and declared research profile information, the system can identify the scientist’s field of expertise and academic background, thereby personalizing the support process according to the needs and research characteristics of each individual.

Emphasizing the practical values of the system, Assoc. Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh focused on three aspects: saving time, enhancing research efficiency; connecting and leveraging the university’s intellectual resources; and supporting the systematic and transparent organization of research activities.

Firstly, integrating tools for document retrieval, survey design, data analysis, manuscript review, and form preparation on a single platform will help faculty members and scientists reduce the time spent on technical tasks, allowing more resources to be devoted to core specialized content.

Additionally, the system aims to connect repositories of articles, research profiles, and the professional information of the university’s scientific community. Through this, faculty members can explore colleagues’ research directions, identify collaboration opportunities, form research networks, and promote interdisciplinary activities. This also serves as a foundation for accumulating, sharing, and effectively utilizing the university’s intellectual resources.

In terms of research management and organization, consolidating documents, work progress, processes, and forms in a common environment with access control and activity history will facilitate users in tracking progress, cross-referencing information, and conducting research procedures according to regulations.

Particularly, addressing the principles of applying artificial intelligence in academic research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh emphasized that, despite AI’s capability to provide effective support, scientists must remain responsible for their research process and outcomes. Information and suggestions provided by AI need to be verified before use; the application of AI must ensure transparency, appropriate disclosure, and compliance with data protection requirements and academic integrity principles.

Acknowledging and highly appreciating the research group’s efforts in developing the system, the Vice President of the University stated that the initial product has met the basic requirements for practical implementation. In the future, the university will continue to organize guidance and training activities for faculty groups and scientists, while also receiving feedback from users to gradually improve and enhance the quality and operational efficiency of the system.

Dr. Pham Xuan Lam – Head of the Information Technology Faculty, Head of the research group, introduced the system and demonstrated 12 tools along with the Central assistant

Representing the research group, Dr. Pham Xuan Lam – Head of the Information Technology Faculty, School of Technology, provided an overview and demonstration of the AI-based Scientific Research Support System. Developed from the practical needs of research activities, the system aims to address the dispersion of data, tools, and processes, enabling faculty members and scientists to access research resources on a unified platform.

Accordingly, the system integrates 12 tools supporting the six stages of a research project, from exploration, literature review, data design and collection, analysis, writing and peer review, to publishing results and seeking funding. The tools are developed to support specific tasks such as searching for articles and experts, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, drafting, similarity review, selecting appropriate journals, and conducting scientific research procedures.

Notably, the system is integrated with a central AI assistant (Central), capable of extracting information from personal profiles and project documents to provide suggestions relevant to the field, content, and research progress. Along with a database of thousands of scientific articles, expert profiles, and academic information sources, the platform facilitates scientists in exploiting existing knowledge, seeking collaboration opportunities, and organizing research work more effectively.

Besides introducing the features, Dr. Pham Xuan Lam also clarified the principles of using AI in scientific research, particularly the requirement for information verification, data protection, and ensuring academic integrity. The system is designed to support scientists in conducting their projects, not to replace professional thinking or the researcher’s responsibility for published results. In the future, functions will continue to be refined based on user experience and feedback, alongside training and guidance activities to enhance AI application capabilities in practical research.

The implementation of the system contributes to concretizing the digital transformation orientation in the scientific and technological activities of the National Economics University, gradually overcoming the dispersion of data, tools, and research resources. On the foundation of knowledge connectivity, process support, and responsible AI application, the system is expected to create conditions for faculty members and scientists to enhance research productivity, strengthen collaboration, and further leverage the university’s scientific potential.

Some Images from the Program:

Article and Photos: Communications Department

On October 13, 2026, the National Economics University held the Launch and Implementation Ceremony of the “AI-Based Scientific Research Support System,” marking a significant advancement in the university’s digital transformation of academic research activities.
