On 26 August 2026, National Economics University (NEU) welcomed Professor Shuo-Yan Chou from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech\/NTUST) for a working session on strengthening cooperation between the two universities. The discussions focused on potential collaboration in industrial management, technology, artificial intelligence, data science and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as joint research and student mobility.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing Taiwan Tech was\u00a0Professor Shuo-Yan Chou, Department of Industrial Management and Director of the Center for Internet of Things Innovation<\/strong>. Building on an Existing Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEU and Taiwan Tech established an institutional foundation for cooperation through a\u00a0Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2018<\/strong>. The visit provided an opportunity for the two universities to reconnect, review potential areas of mutual interest and explore ways to make the partnership more active and substantive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The relationship also benefits from existing academic connections. Professor Shuo-Yan Chou and Associate Professor Do Anh Duc, Director of NEU’s Center for Foreign Languages, have previously collaborated in research<\/strong>, providing a useful foundation from which individual academic links can be developed into broader cooperation between academic units and the two universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Professor To Trung Thanh shared NEU’s development orientation and highlighted the University’s established strengths in economics, business and management, alongside its growing interdisciplinary capabilities in technology and related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taiwan Tech, meanwhile, is internationally recognised for its strengths in engineering, technology, management, applied research and university\u2013industry collaboration. A practical approach discussed at the meeting is to begin with faculty matching and academic exchanges<\/strong>, which could subsequently develop into seminars and workshops, joint research and publications, and faculty or researcher mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approach would allow cooperation to develop around specific academic interests and research projects, while gradually broadening existing faculty-level connections into more systematic institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
