On August 28, 2026, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh, Vice President of the National Economics University welcomed Prof. Neil Quigley, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waikato, New Zealand to discuss strategic directions for enhancing collaboration between the two universities in education, academic exchange, and academic research.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Overview of the meeting<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Attending the meeting, from the National Economics University were: Prof. Dr. Ta Van Loi, Rector of the College of Business; Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Chairman of the Scientific & Academic Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bich Ngoc, Deputy Dean of the School of International Trade & Economics; Dr. Pham Sy Long, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department.<\/p>\n\n

During the session, both sides engaged in focused discussions on advancing student and faculty exchange initiatives, educational collaboration, and professional capacity development for NEU academic staff. Notably, the two universities explored the potential implementation of an articulation pathway for a Master\u2019s program in Digital Business. Through these discussions, both institutions aim to strengthen academic linkages, diversify learning pathways, and expand international experiences for students and faculty.<\/p>\n\n

Building upon existing partnerships, leadership from both universities also explored opportunities to expand cooperation into emerging technology-related fields, aligning with institutional strategic directions and addressing the growing demand for high-quality human resources amidst accelerating digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n

Alongside education, joint research remains a core pillar of the partnership. A highlight of the meeting was the strategic dialogue on the ASEAN Twin Transition Accelerator project, an initiative involving the joint collaboration of National Economics University, the National University of Laos, and the University of Waikato.
The project aims to foster regional research networks among higher education institutions, addressing pivotal challenges and opportunities emerging from the “twin transition” (digital transformation and green\/sustainable transformation).<\/p>\n\n
