Training on Education Quality Assurance Software for Functional Units and Faculties/Institutes With Programs Undergoing Accreditation

On the morning of April 4, 2024, National Economics University (NEU) held a training session on education quality assurance software for functional units and faculties/institutes with programs undergoing accreditation in April 2024. The session aimed to continually improve and enhance the effectiveness of education quality assurance and support the management of academic program and institutional self-assessment reports under domestic and international sets of standards.

A view of the training session

Attending the training session were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU; Dr. Dam Son Toai, Head of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assurance; Dr. Le Viet Thuy, Director of the Center for Information Technology Application; leadership representatives and specialists responsible for collecting and managing evidence from functional units; leadership representatives from faculties/institutes with academic programs registered for accreditation; and representatives of the software provider.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, speaks at the conference.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, shared that in recent years, NEU has consistently worked to develop and improve the quality of its academic programs to provide students with a learning environment and academic programs that meet international standards. Accordingly, one of the University’s key strategic objectives is to focus on rankings and accreditation. Most recently, FIBAA officially recognized and certified NEU as meeting institutional quality standards. Previously, 19 of the 25 programs participating in accreditation met ACBSP quality standards, laying a solid foundation for NEU to refine and enhance teaching quality and deliver lasting academic value to students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong expressed his hope that the training session would help faculties/institutes with academic programs registered for accreditation, as well as specialists responsible for collecting and managing evidence from the units, understand and effectively use the software to support the University’s self-assessment and quality accreditation activities.

Dr. Le Viet Thuy, Director of the Center for Information Technology Application, provides guidance on using the education quality assurance software.

Education quality assurance software is an effective tool for supporting educational institutions in assessing their current status against standards covering institutional organization and management, educational activities, educational outcomes, and other areas. Introducing the quality assurance software system enables more systematic management of evidence records and databases. This is an important step in applying information technology to the University’s activities, particularly education quality assurance and accreditation. The software can manage evidence, support evidence viewing, and enable online self-assessment report writing under various sets of education quality accreditation standards. Introducing online self-assessment software enables more systematic management of evidence records; helps specialized teams reduce the time and effort required to collect evidence; and gives self-assessment report writers a more visual overview, making the report-writing process easier.

The training session focuses on faculties/institutes with academic programs registered for accreditation and specialists responsible for collecting and managing evidence from functional units.

During the training session, faculty and staff were introduced to the software system, practiced using it, and discussed it. Going forward, NEU will continue to review the functions of the evidence and database management software system while using and operating it to support education quality assurance.
