From NEU: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Son – Vice Rector of the School of Economics and Public Management, Head of the Faculty of Planning and Development; Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Truong – Head of the Faculty of Environment, Climate Change and Urban Studies; Dr. Pham Sy Long – Deputy Head of the International Collaboration Department.

At the working session, representatives of the National Economics University welcomed the delegation from the Australian National University (ANU) and expressed a desire to strengthen collaboration with prestigious research universities worldwide. The aim is to engage in substantial and in-depth cooperation in education, academic research, and innovation, contributing to enhancing the quality of human resources to meet development requirements in the context of international integration.

The Australian National University is one of Australia’s leading research universities and a member of the Group of Eight (Go8) top research universities in Australia. ANU holds international academic prestige and strengths in economics, business, public policy, international relations, and social sciences. These are also fields with many similarities and potential for collaboration with the National Economics University.

Notably, the partnership between the two universities was established in 2003, beginning with the Bachelor of Economics and Commerce program under the 3+1 model. In 2016, the two sides continued to collaborate on the Master of Environment and Sustainable Development program under the 1+1 model. Since 2023, NEU and ANU have co-organized annual conferences on economic analysis and policy in Vietnam. These activities lay the foundation for expanding collaboration in the next phase.

On this foundation, the two sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in education at various levels. At the undergraduate level, discussions focused on student exchange, credit recognition and transfer, as well as the potential to develop academic transition pathways, thereby expanding opportunities for NEU students to study and experience the international academic environment at ANU.

For postgraduate education, both parties are interested in expanding learning and research opportunities at the master’s and doctoral levels; strengthening connections among faculty members, researchers, and research groups. One topic of discussion was the potential for collaboration in doctoral training for NEU faculty members within the framework of Project 89 of the Ministry of Education and Training, contributing to the development of a highly qualified faculty with international research capabilities.

In addition to educational collaboration, NEU and ANU discussed connecting scientists and research groups in areas of mutual interest, aiming for joint research projects, international scientific conferences, academic publications, and scholarly exchange activities. This is considered a potential collaboration direction that leverages the strengths of each party and enhances the quality of research activities.
