Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, delivers remarks

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, warmly welcomed the quality assurance experts and administrators attending NEU’s seminar to share their experience in developing learning outcomes and academic programs that meet domestic and international quality assurance and accreditation standards.

Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong shared that NEU is undergoing a process of renewal, with numerous short- and long-term goals. In particular, both the University’s recent development strategy and its future development orientation have consistently emphasized quality assurance for academic programs.

One of NEU’s key strategies aims to develop additional academic programs and become a research-oriented, multidisciplinary university spanning multiple fields, ranking among Vietnam’s top five universities and Asia’s top 100 universities in economics, management, and business administration according to international ranking standards. Alongside expanding the number of academic programs, however, NEU also requires that their quality be assured.

Over the years, NEU has consistently worked to establish and prioritize quality assurance and quality accreditation through external assessment, internal peer review, institutional quality self-assessment, and academic program assessment against MOET’s criteria and standards, as well as international standards. Most recently, NEU welcomed an accreditation team from FIBAA and met 100% of the standards.

NEU has been offering 87 undergraduate academic programs across 42 Level IV majors (covering 11 fields of study and 16 groups of majors), including many interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary majors: five advanced programs (taught in English), 16 high-quality programs, seven POHE Program (Professional-Oriented Higher Education) offerings, 20 English-taught academic programs, and 39 standard Vietnamese-taught academic programs.

Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, also emphasized that developing new majors and academic programs; periodically reviewing, updating, and improving academic programs; and accrediting academic programs play a vital role in enhancing the University’s educational quality. The substantial workload involved in designing, developing, and reviewing academic programs therefore requires systematic, structured implementation across the University, particularly by the faculties and institutes responsible for these academic tasks. Through the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong hoped to provide the University’s faculty members with further international experience in designing and developing academic programs, as well as reviewing, assessing, and improving them.
