On the morning of May 7, 2024, National Economics University (NEU) held a seminar on “List of Suitable Journals and Opportunities for International Cooperation and Funding” to share insights and support faculty and staff in scientific research, teaching, and learning.

Speakers attending the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Trung, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Journal of Education; and Dr. Subhasree Nag, iGroup. Representing NEU were Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh, Head of the Department of Research Management; members of research groups focusing on international publications; and interested lecturers, staff members, PhD candidates, and learners.

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh, Head of the Department of Research Management, shared that the seminar aimed to strengthen participants’ ability to identify lists of suitable, high-quality journals and avoid low-quality predatory journals with poor reputations. It also aimed to help participants find opportunities for international cooperation and research funding, thereby strengthening their capacity to publish internationally. Through the seminar, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh hoped to create opportunities for researchers, lecturers, and experts to connect and exchange ideas, helping them gain further skills in selecting suitable, reputable journals and producing valuable scientific outputs.

At the seminar, the speakers drew on their experience to share insights and discuss warning signs of low-quality predatory journals with poor reputations, along with recommendations concerning such journals.

Speaker Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Trung is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Journal of Education. His publishing experience includes more than 40 articles/book chapters indexed in WoS/Scopus, as well as several textbooks and monographs for university-level education in mathematics education, scientific research, and science policy. The second speaker, Dr. Subhasree Nag, is a member of iGroup. She is a regional solutions consultant for the academic research and life sciences division at Clarivate. She earned her doctoral degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, United States, and completed postdoctoral training at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, United States.
