On December 16, 2024, in Quang Ninh, National Economics University (NEU), in collaboration with the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Science and Technology, organized a scientific conference on “Digital economy development scenarios and solutions for Quang Ninh Province” as part of the provincial science and technology project: “Directions and solutions for digital economy development in Quang Ninh Province through 2030”.

An overview of the conference

In his opening remarks, Pham Hong Thai, Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Science and Technology, emphasized the important role of the digital economy amid the rapid advancement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The digital economy is not only a trend but also a key driver of sustainable development and one of the three important pillars of the national digital transformation program. With its strategic location, high-quality human resources, and increasingly developed technological foundation, Quang Ninh Province has been striving to become a pioneering digital economy hub in the region.

In his introductory remarks at the conference, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council at NEU, stated that the digital economy is not only a goal but also a driver of development. He commended Quang Ninh Province’s efforts to implement comprehensive digital transformation and develop its digital economy. Compared with other localities nationwide, Quang Ninh still has considerable room for digital economy development. However, the province’s digital economy development to date has not matched its potential and advantages.

At the conference, the NEU research team presented its research findings, alongside exchanges and discussions among experts, scientists, and administrators. Presentations at the conference covered the following topics: attracting investment in the electronics sector to Quang Ninh Province in the context of digital economy development; measuring the local digital economy; the role of processing and manufacturing technology in digital economy development in Quang Ninh Province; solutions for digital economy development and leveraging the advantages of selected economic sectors in the province; and scenarios and solutions for digital economy development in Quang Ninh Province through 2030. The conference’s contributions provide a basis for proposals and advice to the province on the coordinated implementation of solutions for digital economy development in Quang Ninh Province in the coming period.
