Over 250 High School Students Experience “A Day as a NEU Student”

On September 26, 2026, more than 250 students from Dam Ha High School (Quang Ninh Province) took part in the experiential program “A Day as an NEU Student” at the National Economics University. More than just a campus visit, the program gave the students an opportunity to explore the modern and dynamic learning environment that defines one of Vietnam’s leading universities in economics, management, and business administration.

Program Overview

Attending the program from Dam Ha High School (Quang Ninh) were: Ms. Pham Thi Ngoan – Secretary of the School Youth Union; along with homeroom teachers, esteemed parents, and over 250 12th-grade students from Dam Ha High School.

Representing the National Economics University were: Dr. Vu Trong Nghia – Head of the Communications Department; Dr. Ho Hoang Lan – Head of Undergraduate Training, Institute of International Education; M.A. Hoang Thanh Ha – Senior Specialist, Training Management Department, member of the Admissions Council Standing Committee; Dr. Tran Anh Ngoc – Lecturer, Institute of Banking and Finance; Dr. Doan Thuy Duong – Lecturer, Institute of Economics and Business; along with leaders of various units, staff, faculty members, and students of the University.

“A Day as a NEU Student” is an activity organized by the National Economics University to provide high school students with direct access to the academic and social environment of university students. Over the years, the program has combined tours, exploration of the University’s history and traditions, academic program consultations, interactions with faculty and students, and support for students in identifying suitable fields of study based on their abilities and interests.

Dr. Vu Trong Nghia – Head of the Communications Department Speaks

Welcoming the teachers and over 250 students from Dam Ha High School to the National Economics University, Dr. Vu Trong Nghia – Head of the Communications Department shared insights about the University’s traditions, development process, and educational environment. Over nearly 70 years of establishment and growth, the National Economics University has educated many generations of learners, contributing human resources in the fields of economics, management, and business administration to the nation.

According to Dr. Vu Trong Nghia, the experiential activity for high school students is not merely a university tour but also an opportunity for them to engage early in career orientation activities, explore the learning environment, and gradually identify their own abilities and career interests. The National Economics University always facilitates students’ direct participation in career orientation activities and real-world experiences, thereby providing them with a foundation to set learning goals and choose the appropriate path for their future.

“Through practical experiences at the National Economics University, we hope that students will gain more information to better understand the university environment, the fields they are interested in, and more importantly, to identify their goals to proactively build their study and training plans right from high school,” shared Dr. Vu Trong Nghia. This content is also consistent with the program’s orientation over the years: creating opportunities for students to directly participate in career orientation activities, thereby gradually forming their career competencies and interests.

During the program, students from Dam Ha High School had the opportunity to learn about the National Economics University and access information related to academic programs, the learning environment, and career orientation. The students also had the chance to directly interact with lecturers, ask questions about the curriculum and career opportunities, and tour the campus, lecture halls, and library system to gain a clearer understanding of the academic life of an NEU student.

Practical experience activities help bridge the gap between high school students and the university environment. Instead of only learning about the fields of study and the university through admissions materials, students have the opportunity to directly observe the learning spaces, meet faculty members and students, and ask questions related to their own choices. This is also one of the program’s overarching goals, helping students gain more information and experience before making an important decision: choosing a field of study that aligns with their strengths, aspirations, and future career orientation.

Sharing at the program, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoan – Secretary of the Youth Union of Dam Ha High School, Quang Ninh, stated that the program has helped teachers and students gain more understanding of the National Economics University, while also accessing useful information to guide their study orientation. In recent years, Dam Ha High School has had students become NEU students, although the number is still limited. Therefore, the school hopes that this direct experience will further motivate students to set goals, proactively build study and training plans, and strive to become NEU students in the future.

From the values received in the program, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoan also hopes that the connection activities between the National Economics University and high schools will continue to expand. In particular, Dam Ha High School hopes to welcome NEU lecturers and students to exchange and share at the school, so that students in grades 10, 11, and 12 can soon access information, learning experiences, and career orientation, thereby better preparing for their future journey.

“After the program, we hope that students will build specific study and training plans, continue to strive to become good citizens and good students in the future; and at the same time, strive for more Dam Ha High School students to become NEU students,” shared Ms. Pham Thi Ngoan.

Dam Ha High School participates in and experiences the “A Day as an NEU Student” program

The experiential program for over 250 Dam Ha High School students continues to extend the connection activities between the National Economics University and high school students. From direct experiences in lecture halls to discussions about fields of study and careers, the program helps students gain more basis to understand themselves, understand the university environment, and be more proactive in determining their future goals. This is also how the National Economics University brings career orientation activities closer to high school students, accompanying them from the early stages of choosing a field of study and shaping their career path.
