NEU Vice President Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu Meets with Delegation from the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom)

On the afternoon of November 26, 2025, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of National Economics University (NEU), welcomed and met with a delegation from the University of East Anglia (UEA, United Kingdom) to discuss scholarship opportunities, postgraduate education, and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.

A view of the meeting

Also attending the meeting on behalf of the University of East Anglia were Prof. Andreas Stephan, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Prof. Lucill Curtis, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sociology in charge of internationalization; Prof. Emiliya Lazarova, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; and representatives of the leadership of its units. Representatives of PASSEDU, an education consulting and partnership facilitation organization, also accompanied the UEA delegation.

Also representing NEU were Dr. Vu Van Ngoc, Dean of the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs; Dr. Vu Hoang Nam, Vice Dean of the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs; Dr. Pham Sy Long, Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation; and faculty and staff of the University.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed in detail a 50% scholarship program exclusively for students in NEU’s High-Quality Digital Marketing, High-Quality Marketing Management, and POHE Marketing Communications programs who continue their studies at UEA. This is expected to expand access to high-quality study abroad opportunities for students, especially those with strong academic performance and career aspirations in marketing, communications, and international business.

The two sides also discussed integrating CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) certification into the current academic programs in High-Quality Digital Marketing, High-Quality Marketing Management, and POHE Marketing Communications. This step aims to raise program standards in line with international criteria, equipping NEU students with both an academic foundation and a competitive advantage in the global labor market through reputable professional certifications.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed credit recognition and extending cooperation to programs that do not yet have transfer agreements, alongside existing cooperative programs such as Advanced Accounting, Advanced Finance, and Advanced International Business Administration.

UEA leadership representatives expressed their readiness to accept young NEU lecturers into doctoral programs in Business or Economics. This is an important opportunity for NEU lecturers to experience an international research environment, strengthen their academic capabilities, and expand their research collaboration networks, enabling them to return and contribute more effectively to the quality of education and research at the University.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu acknowledged and highly valued the potential for cooperation between NEU and the University of East Anglia in education and research, particularly in Law and Economics. The specific areas of cooperation agreed upon by the two sides—including the 50% scholarship program, integration of CIM certification, enhanced credit recognition, and expanded doctoral study opportunities for lecturers—were seen as practical steps toward effectively advancing the University’s internationalization strategy.
