NEU and Korean Embassy in Hanoi sign MOU on Korean Language Training

On April 8, 2026, National Economics University held a meeting with the Education Department of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Korean language training, opening up numerous development opportunities in education and academic exchange between the two entities.

Program Overview

Attending the program, from the Education Department of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam: Mr. Kim Hyun Dong – Head of the Education Department. From National Economics University: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong – President; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice President; Dr. Dao Thanh Tung – Head of the International Collaboration Department; along with representatives from the leadership of the Schools, Departments, Faculties, Institutes, and Centers of both entities.

Within the framework of the working program, both sides exchanged and discussed future cooperation directions, focusing on areas such as training, academic research, academic exchange, and business connectivity.

Also at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong – President emphasized the strategic significance of developing foreign language proficiency in the context of globalization.

According to the University Director, in the trend of deeper integration, students not only need specialized knowledge but also foreign language skills and multicultural understanding. In this context, Korean is increasingly asserting its important role in the region, becoming a choice for many Vietnamese students.

He also affirmed: “Mastering multiple foreign languages not only enhances students’ competitiveness in the labor market but also broadens their thinking and strengthens their adaptability in a multicultural environment. Foreign languages are the key to connecting global knowledge and accessing study, research, and work opportunities in developed countries.”

National Economics University (NEU) identifies enhancing foreign language proficiency as one of its strategic priorities, focusing not only on English but also promoting the study of regional languages such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, etc., to create an internationalized learning environment.

The University President also expressed appreciation for the support from the Korean Education Department, particularly in implementing free Korean language classes for students. This is seen as a practical opportunity for students to access a new language while gaining a deeper understanding of Korean culture and people.

Through the collaboration program, students will have more favorable conditions to develop comprehensively, expanding opportunities for study, research, and careers in an international environment.

NEU leadership affirms the commitment to closely coordinate with partners to effectively implement the agreed-upon cooperation content, contributing to making the program substantive and sustainable.

According to the signed agreement, the Education Department, Embassy of Korea in Vietnam will support by providing high-quality Korean language lecturers, while the National Economics University ensures the necessary facilities and organizes the classes. The program also aims to facilitate students’ access to Korean language and culture in a systematic and effective manner.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding not only contributes to enhancing the quality of foreign language training but also represents a concrete step in the internationalization strategy of National Economics University. Through collaboration with prestigious international partners, the University continues to expand the learning, research, and experiential space for students in a global context.

The event once again affirms the proactive role of National Economics University in integrating into international education, while also contributing to strengthening and developing the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea in the field of education and training.
