In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, noted that in the digital age, tasks involving memorization and synthesis can be fully supported by artificial intelligence (AI). However, AI is only a tool and a companion in teaching and research. The key factors remain each individual’s independent thinking and solid foundation of knowledge, which enable them to understand, evaluate, and master what technology offers.

Prof. Pham Hong Chuong also emphasized that, as science and technology, particularly AI, profoundly affect all areas of social life, NEU aims to maximize its internal capabilities while promoting the application of technology in teaching and training. The University is gradually undertaking comprehensive reforms, from developing a system of textbooks and revamping student assessment methods to integrating AI into lectures, to make lessons more engaging, improve the effectiveness of instruction, and inspire students to learn.

The President of NEU expressed his expectation that the course would be an important first step in helping faculty and staff engage with and apply AI effectively in ways suited to their areas of expertise, gradually contributing to the development of a smart, modern, and sustainable higher education environment.
