Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Chair of the University Council and Chair of the NEU Alumni Network Executive Board, noted that NEU has a 69-year history of growth and development. Throughout that time, the University has trained a highly qualified, capable workforce for the country.
The University’s alumni have gone on to work in every region of the country and across all fields, contributing to the nation’s socioeconomic development. These alumni have directly helped write the history of NEU and made the University proud.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, the NEU Alumni Network was officially established 10 years ago and has become a “strong bridge” connecting the past with the future—a place where the spirit of gratitude expressed in the saying “When drinking water, remember its source” permeates every activity, inspiring each member of the NEU Alumni Network to help create meaningful initiatives.
“We have every right to be proud of building a broad network, the most successful in Vietnam’s higher education system—a place where alumni success stories ignite the aspirations of thousands of NEU students today. Beyond that, the bonds among fellow alumni extend into society, creating a sustainable educational ecosystem where knowledge is continually passed down through generations of learners and students at the University,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho said.
The Chair of the University Council and Chair of the NEU Alumni Network Executive Board emphasized that, throughout the network’s development, NEU alumni have together written inspiring chapters of its history through noble acts.
These range from class reunions filled with the warmth of teacher-student bonds and friendships to joint investments in facilities that help the University reach an international level; from building bridges between businesses and the University to charitable programs. Images of new school sites built by the University’s alumni and meaningful humanitarian efforts, including assistance for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, storms, and floods, have helped promote a positive image of NEU in the community and society.
“NEU is proud of its alumni, not only for their contributions to the country’s socioeconomic development, but also for their generosity and the affection they hold for the University, their teachers, and their friends.
I am deeply moved by the affection each alumnus holds for the University. Whatever positions they hold, when our alumni return to the University, they remain students filled with affection for their teachers and friends. This is a cherished humanistic value that generations have cultivated and passed down from one generation to the next,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho shared.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho also noted that the Economic Talent Development Fund was founded by NEU alumni themselves. Although still in its infancy, the Fund has noble purposes and ambitious aspirations. It will nurture and develop economic talent to shoulder the responsibility of developing the national economy in the future, carrying forward and building on the pride of previous generations of alumni.
“Now, as the country enters a new era, the NEU Alumni Network continues to be a trusted companion. We will pioneer the development of a digital platform connecting NEU alumni globally, where knowledge knows no borders. We will make the Fund a launchpad for breakthrough ideas, helping realize the “Vietnam 2045 Aspiration”.
Above all, together we will extend the reach of NEU’s proud values, so that every alumnus becomes an economic ambassador with strength of character and a compassionate heart,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho said, expressing his hopes.

Speaking on behalf of generations of alumni, Nguyen Dinh Thang, Chair of the Board of Directors of Hong Co Group and Vice Chair of the Network Executive Board, emphasized that the NEU Alumni Network has a 10-year history since its official establishment, but its foundations were in fact laid by generations of the University’s alumni long before that.
The Network is a place for the University’s alumni to connect, check in on one another, share, and jointly contribute to organizations, localities, and the country. It is also a place to come together to revisit cherished memories, visit the University and their teachers, and return to support and contribute to the University’s development.
“We are immensely proud to be alumni of NEU—a university with a record of achievement and a history spanning nearly 70 years, which has trained many senior officials of the Party, State, and Government, as well as scientific researchers, entrepreneurs, and officials who have contributed positively to the country’s socioeconomic development during the renewal period.
We are very proud of the University, but we believe that the University is also very proud of the generations of alumni who left NEU to build careers and contribute, and who return today,” Nguyen Dinh Thang shared.
