NEU developed and issued its development strategy for 2021-2030, clearly defining a roadmap toward becoming a university with constituent colleges. The University’s development strategy clearly sets out its goals, vision, mission, direction, and implementation steps.
Accordingly, in 2024, the University will undertake activities, prepare documentation, and complete the necessary procedures to gain recognition in 2025 for its transition from National Economics University as a standalone university to National Economics University with constituent colleges. The most important initial step has been completed: the Party Committee and University Council issued Resolutions establishing three constituent colleges in accordance with regulations—the College of Economics and Public Management, the College of Business, and the College of Technology.

Of the three newly established colleges, the College of Economics and Public Management and the College of Business cover the University’s traditional fields of education and areas of strength. The College of Technology is built on the foundation of three academic units that are attracting strong interest from students: the Institute of Information Technology and Digital Economy, the Faculty of Mathematical Economics, and the Faculty of Statistics. Its distinctive focus is on applying technology in economics, management, and business. It trains engineers and bachelor’s degree graduates who differ from technology engineers in that they have a business and economics mindset and understand the technological issues that enterprises and management organizations need to address. They serve as a bridge enabling specialized companies to work with economic organizations to apply technology and improve business performance.

Following the establishment of the three constituent colleges, the University will implement a new governance model that promotes greater specialization. Faculties and constituent colleges will focus primarily on research and teaching. Functional departments and offices will handle all administrative management tasks. The University will therefore retain a centralized functional management model while granting constituent colleges and faculties autonomy and substantial delegated authority in academic matters.
The Party Committee and NEU Board of Presidents are confident that faculty members and managerial staff of the constituent colleges will work tirelessly and in solidarity to fulfill the academic year’s tasks, particularly to complete the restructuring successfully, establish NEU as a multidisciplinary university spanning multiple fields, and ensure its sustainable development in the future.
