On June 24, 2025, National Economics University (NEU) held a Conference on Exemplary Role Models for 2020-2025 in preparation for the Eighth Education Sector Patriotic Emulation Congress in 2025.
An overview of the conference
Attending the conference were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council; Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Chair of the NEU Trade Union; leadership representatives from schools, departments, faculties, institutes, and centers; and representatives of exemplary units and individuals honored for the 2020-2025 period.
As the country pursues “fundamental and comprehensive educational reform,” the emulation movement to study well, teach well, and work well takes on even greater significance, motivating each unit and individual to overcome difficulties and fulfill their duties well.
At the conference, delegates heard Dr. Bui Duc Dung, Head of the Department of General Affairs, present a report reviewing the emulation movement and emulation and commendation work for 2020-2025, along with directions and tasks for emulation and commendation work for 2025-2030.
Dr. Bui Duc Dung, Head of the Department of General Affairs, presents the report at the conference
According to the report, during 2020-2025, NEU implemented the Law on Higher Education. The University continued to exercise autonomy and accountability, which presented both opportunities and challenges. Alongside the country’s reform efforts, the University proactively developed and adjusted its development strategy to align with broader development trends. The Fourth Industrial Revolution positively influenced overall administration, and the University expanded its use of information technology in management, administration, and teaching. The University consistently prioritized launching and implementing emulation movements and recognizing and encouraging units and individuals with outstanding achievements contributing to its growth and development.
Over the past five years, the Party Committee and the NEU Board of Presidents have closely guided the implementation of emulation and commendation movements. The University directed the standing coordinating unit and its other units to actively participate in emulation movements and focus on identifying exemplary units and individuals and promptly recommending them for commendation. Guidance documents on emulation and commendation work were consistently updated to reflect current state regulations. Emulation movements received enthusiastic support from staff, employees, and learners throughout the University. These movements were widely implemented and achieved good results, fostering solidarity and enthusiasm in teaching and learning…
For 2025-2030, guided by the motto “Solidarity – Innovation – Cooperation – Integration – Development,” NEU will continue to strengthen patriotic emulation movements, providing strong motivation for the entire University to fulfill its assigned tasks with excellence. The University will accelerate organizational restructuring as it transitions from its former university structure to its new university model, focusing on improving the quality of education, scientific research, and other activities to contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, delivers remarks
Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, emphasized that the past five years had been an exceptional period marked by numerous difficulties and upheavals, both domestically and worldwide. Against this backdrop, NEU demonstrated resilience, worked to overcome challenges, remained committed to its development goals, and attained noteworthy achievements.
Prof. Pham Hong Chuong noted that NEU’s success today is the result of the shared commitment and tireless efforts of faculty and staff throughout the University. Its units have worked together to foster innovation and creativity and develop many practical initiatives, all toward the shared goal of NEU’s sustainable development. NEU’s academic community is not only an important driving force but also a solid foundation for carrying forward the values painstakingly nurtured by previous generations of leaders.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong also affirmed that NEU would continue to expand the application of modern technology in teaching, prioritizing the development of groups of disciplines less affected by artificial intelligence to maintain the University’s standing amid the wave of digital transformation. The University will also continue to improve compensation policies, particularly salary mechanisms, to attract and retain high-quality lecturers. Improving educational quality will remain a strategic priority, alongside renewing teaching methods, keeping abreast of global trends, and strengthening international integration.
Prof. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, expressed confidence that, with its current infrastructure advantages and the cooperation, solidarity, and determination of its academic community, NEU has every basis for achieving its stated development goals.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong also sincerely thanked all faculty and staff for consistently standing alongside the University’s leadership to overcome difficulties throughout the journey thus far. The President expressed confidence that NEU’s academic community would continue to make greater strides and achieve further success in building a multidisciplinary, multifield research university that leads the way in advancing knowledge and innovation.
Delegates share their perspectives and contribute ideas at the conference
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, expressed her hope that the development directions for the coming period would enable NEU students to study in an “absolutely wonderful” environment that is modern and full of opportunities for growth. According to Dr. Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, this environment will not only equip students with specialized knowledge but also help them enhance their practical work capabilities, thereby significantly narrowing the gap between education and the labor market. “In practice, NEU graduates now have many quality employment opportunities with increasingly high starting salaries. More importantly, employers can clearly see that our students are fully capable of starting work immediately after graduation without needing retraining.”
The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics also affirmed that the quality of NEU graduates is the clearest evidence of the practice-oriented, integration-focused, and continuously innovative approach to education that the University is pursuing.
Every achievement today is the result of the tireless efforts, solidarity, creativity, and dedication of exemplary units and individuals in NEU’s emulation movement. To recognize and promote these exemplary role models, the President of NEU signed Decision No. 729 dated June 3, 2025, awarding certificates of merit to units and individuals with outstanding, exemplary achievements in the emulation movement for 2020-2025.
