National Economics University Admits Six New Members to Its Veterans’ Association

On the morning of September 23, 2025, a ceremony to admit new members to the Veterans’ Association took place in Meeting Room A, Building A1, at National Economics University (NEU). The ceremony was conducted in a solemn atmosphere, following the procedures set out in the Charter of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association.

A view of the ceremony

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Chairman of the NEU Trade Union; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Trieu, Chairman of the Veterans’ Association; members of the Executive Committee; and several members of the NEU Veterans’ Association.

Established in 1995, the NEU Veterans’ Association was one of the first veterans’ associations among universities. Over its 30 years of operation, during a period of peace and reform in the country, nearly all members of its first generation of veterans—those who set aside their studies to enlist and defend the nation—have now retired. In recent years, opportunities to recruit new members have been quite limited, as fewer former military personnel have come to work at the University.

Nevertheless, from among the small number of former military personnel currently working at the University, the Association’s Executive Committee received applications, reviewed them, and selected several individuals who met the eligibility criteria under the current Charter of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association.

This admission of new members holds special significance in celebrating the seventh Congress of the NEU Veterans’ Association for the 2025-2030 term and the 30th anniversary of the Association’s establishment, 1995-2025. It also marks a generational transition, as veterans who experienced combat hand over their duties and responsibilities to a younger generation to carry forward and preserve the tradition of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers,” ready to “Die for the Nation to Live” and to dedicate themselves and make sacrifices for their homeland and country.

The six newly admitted members are Nguyen Van Lam (Department of General Affairs), Nguyen Anh Tu (Department of Facilities Management), Le Van Dung (Department of Political Affairs and Student Management), Le Trong Bon (Center for Services and Training Support), Dao Anh Cuu (Center for Services and Training Support), and Nguyen Thai Hoc (Center for Services and Training Support).

According to the Executive Committee, the new members meet the standards set out in the current Veterans’ Association Charter very well. They include three Party members; one professional military officer who transferred to civilian employment; one reserve officer who completed military service; and two former naval servicemen who spent many years stationed at sea and on islands.
